Bede’s Singers Auditions

Would you like to come and sing as part of a group? These auditions are open to everyone. The Bede’s Singers get to sing at all manner of events throughout the school year: the Christmas carol service, events over the Spring Term, including a ‘Come and Sing’ day, and working with choral conductors of the highest calibre.

Cabaret 2024 auditions are open to everyone at the senior school. Would you like to sing as a soloist? A duo, trio or band? Even perhaps a student presenter, known as a compère? These auditions are for you if you would like to be involved in any way. Cabaret is one of the blue-chip events of the Performing Arts calendar and is a must-see event for all. Sign up in the Music Department or come and speak to a member of the music team.
Music gig: ‘Marseille’ Komedia, Brighton

he UK’s new hottest indie prospect, Marseille, have announced their biggest UK tour to date, over September and October 2024. The tour spans over 10 dates and it will be a huge tour to celebrate and showcase a new groundbreaking EP. This promises to be a really exciting gig at one of the South East’s most eclectic performance venues.
Open Morning Music Rooms

The music department will play a big part in showcasing the school’s annual open morning: student bands will perform in the music department, the music recording suite will be open for all to visit, and some of our music award holders will serenade in the Recital Room before a talk and welcome from the Head & CEO.
House Music Competition MPH Friday 4 October 6pm
The annual house music competition is one of the hotly contested inter-house competitions of the Bede’s academic calendar! Houses combine in one evening of joyful music and huge fun , adjudicated by professional musicians, this is one of the major events of the music calendar.

Bede’s is thrilled to welcome Leontine Hass and Scott Harrison from Associated Studios in London to give a workshop and masterclass to our singers and music theatre hopefuls in an afternoon and evening class.
Sixth Form Options

An opportunity for music scholars, and any musician or band to perform at Holy Trinity, Upper Dicker. This event is open to all members of the Bede’s community and any local resident who would like to come and hear a range of pupils perform in a beautiful setting, away from the rush of everyday life.

If you are interested in studying BTEC Music at sixth form level, one of the most exciting courses in the school, then sign up for a taster session led by Mr Hopkins. Anyone can take BTEC Music, even if you have not studied music at GCSE.

If you are in Years 9, 10 and 11, then all are welcome to perform at the Junior Concert, held in the Recital Room. This is always a wonderful opportunity to hear our brilliant young musicians in the junior part of the school perform a captivating programme of repertoire.

Bede’s musicians will perform a set for Eastbourne Youth Radio - stay tuned for more information, but expect a taster performance for Cabaret and to hear some of our other musicians perform on local radio.
Cabaret MPH
Friday 6 & Saturday 7 December 6.30pm
The Bede’s Cabaret Concert has, over the past twelve years, become a big Sussex night out and is one of the school’s major blue-chip performances of the Performing Arts diary. The venue will be the Sports Complex, which is transformed into a spectacular evening, celebrating Bede’s music and performing arts in all its glory. Well over 100 pupils are involved as either performers, compères (student presenters), dancers, or backstage crew. Tables of 10 and 12 are available for parents and guests and can be booked by contacting our Senior Events team.
Carol Service St Saviour’s, Eastbourne

Bede’s prepares for Christmas at the school’s carol service held at St. Saviour’s, Eastbourne. The Bede’s Singers serenade the pupils in two services, celebrating the coming festive season in all its beauty and joyfulness.
