Land-based Apprenticeships Land-based apprenticeships are extremely popular for individuals who enjoy practical work outside and have a keen interest in working with land, plants and/or livestock. There are four main land based apprenticeships available; Agriculture (farming and livestock), Horticulture (landscaping and gardening), Arboriculture (trees and timber) and Environmental. These types of Apprenticeships allow you to develop the skills and knowledge required by employers in land-based industries, providing you with the chance to gain on-the-job experience whilst also studying for a qualification.
Landscape Operative Apprentice, Kings Landscapes, Aspley Guise, Bedfordshire, £324 per week As an apprentice for Kings Landscapes, you will be trained to carry out quality landscape construction and maintenance work on site as part of a team. You will be expected to contribute towards the goals of the team in an efficient, cooperative and constructive manner. Due to the need to travel to various sites, carrying equipment with you, a full UK driving licence and your own method of suitable transport is required for this role. Warehousing and Logistics Apprenticeships A Warehousing Apprenticeship predominantly covers the movement and storage of goods and is an essential part of logistic operations. This is a work based apprenticeship where all of your assessments will be done in your place of work. You could work for a large retailer, manufacturer or distribution company. Some of your day to day tasks may include keeping stock records, taking and checking delivery of goods in and storing them, moving stock by hand or with machines.

Our services support family relationships to continue developing throughout the sentence, which plays a critical role in helping to reduce reoffending rates. We are seeking volunteers for 2 roles. 1. To supervise prisoners in the Visits Hall tea bar. This role supports prisoners in their rehabilitation and training as Barista’s and families visiting the prison. You will open the tea bar, oversee the selling of hot food and drink and operate the till. We need volunteer for Weekends 13.00 to 16.15 and Wednesdays and Thursdays 13.00- 15.30. 2. To assist Play Staff in the Visits Hall play area. This role involves working directly with children aged 1-13 years at Weekends from 13.15 to 16.15. You need an interest in working with children and understanding of children’s needs. For both of these roles Ormiston will offer the necessary training and support. Volunteer Room Steward and Volunteer Tour Guide – The Mansion House Do you love meeting new people and sharing fascinating historical facts? We’re extending the public interest in The Collection and Swiss Garden to The House and Parkland. If you like people, becoming a volunteer at The House will be an opportunity to find out more about the place yourself, as well as enjoying showing it off. Time commitment will be variable to suit the individual and our events programme. We seek volunteers to:
Stewards for the rooms in The House
Tour Guides to conduct tours and talk about the history, family, pictures, furniture and architecture for both special interest and general groups.
Learning Volunteer – The Collection Educational activities volunteering is available on weekdays, weekends, school holidays and for workshops for visiting schools. Activities will be Swiss Garden based or in The Collection, and there are a range of opportunities from booking in schools to creating craft activities.

ZSL Animal Careers Conference – 29 August 2017 This is a one-day conference hosted at ZSL London Zoo and aimed at people aged 16+ who are interested in pursuing an animal based career. The conference will begin with a talk from a keynote speaker to tell you the story of an exciting career. There will then be four sessions throughout the day where ZSL speakers from different departments will give you short insights into their careers and how they got there. There will also be four short, practical activities to consolidate your knowledge of each theme of work. Lunch and refreshments will be provided and you will be able to access the zoo at lunch time and after the conference has ended. This conference will be most useful to students aged 16+ who know they would like to work with animals, but are not sure what direction to go in. There are many diverse and varied animal careers and this event will aim to give you an overview of some of them. There is a charge for attending this event, however ZSL are offering an early-bird rate for tickets purchased before 31st March 2017. There are also a small number of fully-funded places available.
