YOUR GUIDE TO

ENROLMENT AT TRESHAM COLLEGE


OUR ENROLMENT PROCESS IS DESIGNED TO MAKE SURE THAT YOU ARE ENROLLED ONTO THE RIGHT COURSE AT THE RIGHT LEVEL FOR YOU. We have written this guide to give you answers to a few questions that you might have about enrolling so that you know what to bring and what to expect. BEFORE YOU ENROL

WHEN CAN I ENROL ON MY COURSE?

Enrolment takes place between 28 August and 3 September, depending on which course and campus you are joining. Corby campus: Tuesday 28 August Wednesday 29 August Kettering campus: Thursday 30 August - Friday 31 August Wellingborough campus (motor vehicle courses): Friday 31 August Wellingborough campus (all courses except motor vehicle): Monday 3 September You can find exact details of your enrolment slot on the letter included within this leaflet.

WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING? Qualifications/Certificates We need to see evidence of your qualifications. This can either be your certificates or your result notification slips if you haven’t received your certificates yet. Proof of ID This can be either a: • UK/EU passport or ID card • A full birth certificate • Driver’s licence • Non-EU passport • National Insurance card/letter • Debit/Credit card

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE? Please allow between 2-3 hours to complete your enrolment.

WHAT IF I CAN’T MAKE MY ENROLMENT DATE? It is really important that you attend your enrolment appointment however if you can’t make it please contact our Customer Services Team on 01536 413123 or email info@tresham.ac.uk and we will arrange another appointment for you.

WHAT IF I DON’T GET THE GCSE GRADES I NEED OR I ACHIEVE BETTER THAN EXPECTED? Don’t worry if you don’t get the results you had hoped for, or you achieve better grades than you expected. All our offers are based on predicted grades and our Customer Services Team and Course Teams will be happy to give you information and advice about what you can do next. We are also holding an Open Day on GCSE Results Day (Thursday 23 August, between 10.00am and 4.00pm) if you want to pop along and speak to us about your grades.

WHAT IF I WANT TO STUDY A DIFFERENT COURSE OR CHANGE MY APPLICATION? Not a problem at all! Just contact us by phone or email or update your selfservice portal on our admissions system, Radius and we will do the rest. WHAT TO EXPECT ON ENROLMENT DAY STAGE 1 ARRIVE AT COLLEGE

STAGE 3 PAPERWORK CHECK

Come along to your campus at the time listed on your enrolment letter and report to our main reception. There will be Wayfinders around to guide you to where you need to be and lots of signage to show the way!

This is just a final check to make sure everything is correct before your tutor or another member of staff then escorts you across to our enrolment team.

STAGE 2 MEET YOUR TUTOR Before we can enrol you into the College we need to check some details on your enrolment form and review your qualifications, just to make sure that you have the necessary grades to enrol on your course. Make sure that you bring your qualification certificates or result slips with you. Your course tutor will also issue you with your induction timetable.

STAGE 4 ID CHECK AND ENROLMENT When you arrive at this stage your enrolment form will be checked again along with your proof of ID. We will then pass you to one of our enrolment team members who will put your details on to our student record system and enrol you as a Tresham College Student. If you are aged 19+ and need to pay for your course the team will talk to you about your fees, finance options and methods of payment, etc. Our Customer Services and Additional Learning Support Teams will also be on hand to discuss any financial or learning support you may be entitled to.

FAQS

We understand that it can be daunting joining a new College so here are some other points that you may have questions about.

DO I HAVE TO PAY ANYTHING WHEN I ENROL? If you are aged 16 to 18 at the start of your course you do not have to pay any tuition fees. If you are aged 19 or over and are enrolling onto a Level 3 or 4 course you will either need to pay course fees* with the assistance of an Advanced Learner Loan (19+ Loan) or via a sponsor/employer or by paying the fees yourself. You will need to provide evidence of any loan entitlement, employer support or your own bank details during enrolment. We can setup a payment plan if you prefer to pay in instalments. Please note that there is a £20 charge for this service and all instalments must be paid before the course finishes.

*If you are aged between 19 and 23 inclusive, enrolling onto a Level 3 course and you don’t already hold a full Level 3 qualification you may not have to pay course fees.

HOW DO I APPLY FOR FINANCIAL SUPPORT? (E.G. BUS PASSES, FREE MEALS, CHILDCARE, ETC) Depending on your circumstances you may be able to claim for financial support to help with the costs of coming to College. The easiest way to check if you qualify for financial support is to use our online Eligibility Checker: www.tresham.ac.uk/eligibility If you are eligible an ‘Apply Here’ button will appear for you to complete financial support application. You will need to provide details about the course you want to study, your bank account details and evidence of any household income. Don’t worry if you have trouble with the form. Either give us a call on 01536 413123 or pop along to see us and we will be happy to help and talk you through it.

ARE THERE ANY EXTRA COSTS ASSOCIATED WITH MY COURSE? Details about any costs for equipment, uniforms, trips/visits etc. and how to pay will have been discussed with you during your interview or Welcome Day. If there are any costs associated with your course you will have received an email detailing any such costs and advising when you need to pay these.

MY EMPLOYER IS PAYING MY COURSE FEES. WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING? So that we can complete your enrolment we will need a letter on company headed paper stating the amount to be paid and the address to be invoiced and/or a purchase order number.

WHAT SHOULD I WEAR? Please feel free to wear whatever you feel comfortable in. There is no need to wear a suit or uniform to enrol at the College.

WHERE DO I GO WHEN I ARRIVE? Just go straight to our main entrance and reception. Don’t worry, there will be helpers and signage around the campus to help direct you to where you need to be.

WILL REFRESHMENTS BE AVAILABLE? Our coffee shops at our Corby and Kettering campuses will be open for you to purchase drinks and refreshments between 8.00am5.00pm. Water fountains and vending machines are also available. If you are enrolling at our Church Street or Croyland Hall campus in Wellingborough there will be selfservice refreshments available.

CAN I BRING FAMILY AND FRIENDS WITH ME? You are welcome to bring someone along with you to enrolment however most people just come along on their own as it does take a few hours to complete the process. If you are enrolling at either our Corby or Kettering campus they will be able to wait for you in our coffee shop areas.

Please note that due to there being limited space available at our Church Street and Croyland Hall campuses friends or family members may find it easier to return and collect you later.

WHAT IF I FORGET MY PROOF OF ID / QUALIFICATIONS? Don’t worry. If you forget to bring something you can either: 1. P op back home to collect the missing documents and then return to complete your enrolment 2. P hone a friend or family member to bring the evidence to you 3. A rrange to return another day so that your evidence can be checked and your enrolment completed

WHEN WILL MY COURSE OR INDUCTION START? All full-time course inductions take place week commencing 10 September 2018. Your induction details will be confirmed when you come to enrol.

GCSE RESULTS DAY

We will be holding an open day on Thursday 23 August between 10.00am-4.00pm if you want to pop along to speak to tutors or any of our support team.
