All learners study Maths and English alongside their vocational subject. This is specific to each learner depending on their previous levels. Some learners will work towards Functional Skills qualifications, whereas others will work towards GCSE’s.
We also offer Vocational Accredited Courses at a range of levels. For those who need progress focused learning we offer RARPA
There are no specific entry requirements needed to apply for our courses. All learners’ needs are discussed on an individual basis and a plan is put in place tailored to them to support their outcomes.
Gateway Progression
IS THIS COURSE RIGHT FOR ME?
This course is for you if you are aged 16-24 and have SEND or a diagnosis of a social, emotional, mental health or communication needs. You may also have low confidence, missed out on education or find some environmental situations a barrier to learning.
The Progression course is a full-time study programme made up of termly options of your choice. You will gain Skills, knowledge and confidence that will help you become more independent, be more able to make decisions and progress onto further courses or into work.
On this course you will receive a personalised approach to learning enabling you to overcome specific barriers A person-centred approach will be tailored to support your individual needs helping you reach your aspirational goals. Success on this course will be completion of a portfolio of evidence.
The course is supported through small teaching groups, experienced staff, multiagency support and specialist services where required.
All learners must complete either Functional Skills or GCSE Maths and English (as appropriate) as part of their course.
OPTIONS OVERVIEW
Outdoor Adventure - Staff will support you to continuously develop your selfconfidence and social skills through a range of sporting or outdoor activities that are focused on your wellbeing and personal development. You will be supported to develop your personal skills, build resilience and have the opportunity to develop a can-do attitude This option offers an immersive experience and encourages progression into vocational learning.
Success on this course will be a portfolio of evidence that will demonstrate personal progress and skill development.
Mixed Media Art, Photography and Textiles –
This option is an exciting and unique opportunity to explore and experiment with different techniques, resources and materials. You will have the chance to experiment with different forms of creative arts such as photography, textiles and combined media that will allow you to develop your skills in areas of 2D and 3D art forms using a variety of resources and subjects. The learning, where possible will enable you to get out into the community, to find interesting and creative inspiration .
If you choose the enterprise option you can develop your skills and passions into business ideas and learn how to market, finance and launch your chosen business.
Success on this course will be the production of a portfolio of mixed art pieces that will showcase your newfound skills and creativity and a final exhibition of your work.
Animal and Cultivation-
Our Animal studies option offers you the opportunity to explore theoretical and practical experiences of working with small animals. You will be suited to this option if you want to develop and understand the therapeutic and health benefits of animal contact, alongside learning to meet the care needs of the animals themselves
You will also study and take part in practical cultivation activities including growing, caring for, prorogation and understanding the medicinal benefits of a variety of plants and vegetation. Success on this course will be a portfolio of evidence that will demonstrate personal progress and study skills that will enhance future study.
Digital Media and Music Production-
This option provides you the opportunity to show your knowledge and skills within digital media platforms. You will take part in a variety of activities relating to animation, digital music, digital art, and digital marketing.
Our digital media option is ideal for you if you have a passion for digital creativity. This course will take you through a range of mixed media tasks and marketing activities and provide you with the opportunity to gain skills and knowledge in digital creativity that can be used to progress onto many digital media courses or career pathways.
Mechanical-
This option introduces basic mechanic skills. You will develop knowledge and skill in maintaining, repairing and upcycling vehicles including push bikes, go carts, motor bikes and small engines. Skills will be developed to provide the foundations for further trade specific courses.
Success on this course will be a portfolio of evidence that will demonstrate personal progress and study skills that will enhance future study.
Sport-
This option is for you if you like to get active and participate in a range of sports including the Gym, Team games and PT sessions. You will learn about healthy routines, behaviours, nutrition and also be introduced to potential careers within the sporting world. Success on this course will be the production of a portfolio of work and participation in a range of activities.
Carpentry Enterprise –
This option will allow you to develop your woodwork skills using a range of tools and techniques you will create products to sell or donate to a range of events. You will develop design ideas for pallet furniture, animal nesting boxes, as well as your own creative ideas.
Success on this course will be the production of a portfolio of work demonstrating a clear business idea alongside the production of quality products.
OPTIONS AFTER COMPLETION OF COURSE
There is a focus on progression within the college and onto further courses and meeting your aspirational goals. This course aims to prepare you for your next steps on your learning journey. We will provide you with experiences, knowledge and skills to help you decide on your vocational pathway

This qualification is for you if want to develop and extend your digital skills to prepare for employment for different roles in the digital and creative industries
COURSE OVERVIEW
This course will develop your skills in areas of software and programming, network support and digital design. The qualification is designed for job roles in other industries where specific digital skills are required, such as finance, marketing and machining and manufacturing. The qualification includes a mandatory unit along with optional units that relate directly to the skills, knowledge and behaviours expected by employers and covers a wide range and use of different digital technologies, systems and software.
You will be supported by experienced staff to develop personally through a structured PPD programme and gain knowledge through both practical and academic tasks.
All learners must complete either Functional Skills or GCSE Maths and English (as appropriate) as part of their course.

IS THIS COURSE RIGHT FOR ME?
If you are considering a career in health and/or social care with adults or children and young people this could be the course for you This course provides you an alternative approach to curriculum and learning if you have an EHCP or have additional support needs with an interest in studying childcare/Health and Social Care studies.
COURSE OVERVIEW
Our experienced staff will support you throughout the course to gain an understanding on the knowledge and skills needed to work within the health, social care and childcare sectors. You will take part in a variety of practical activities as well as academic tasks to show your knowledge and understanding within a variety of settings.
Tasks set throughout the year will naturally encourage improvements within your areas of development, alongside gaining the knowledge needed to become a practitioner within the professional fields. You will learn about caring for individuals during each stage of life, as well as developing you own skills such as flexibility, sensitivity, communication and working alongside others.
All learners must complete either Functional Skills or GCSE Maths and English (as appropriate) as part of their course.

OPTIONS AFTER COMPLETION OF COURSE
This course does not confirm competence or license to practice. However, as in all courses at the College, there is a focus on progression and this course aims to prepare learners for further studies at the College or other services.
SUPPORTED INTERNSHIP
IS THIS COURSE RIGHT FOR ME?
This course is only for young People with an EHCP and is best suited to those who are ready to leave education and transition into paid employment, voluntary work or into an apprenticeship.
COURSE OVERVIEW
Learners will be supported by a trained job coach throughout the whole process. They will be given support from completing and updating their CV, sourcing and applying for jobs, to interviewing and starting their job. Experienced staff will teach learners the skills and knowledge they will need in order to be successful in achieving their goals for education and employment.
The learner will be assessed throughout the process by their job coach to ensure they are getting the correct support and guidance needed in order to complete tasks set. The supported internships’ main aim is to encourage learners to become increasingly independent once they have learnt their role, and for the intensive support to be gradually withdrawn.
Supported internship requires learners to spend some time in college to work on their employability skills, as well as time within their placement. All learners must complete either Functional Skills or GCSE Maths and English (as appropriate) as part of their course.
OPTIONS AFTER COMPLETION OF COURSE
We aim to work alongside local authorities to offer a level of support to the learners on an individual basis once the course is finished.
