Entry Requirements • Level 2 – A range of GCSE’s at Grade D/3 or above including English and Maths – Or completion of Level 1 qualification, equivalent English and Maths – Purchase of PPE • Level 3 – Completion of Level 2 qualification with English and Maths Grade C/4 equivalent – Purchase of PPE


Course Details Year 1 • Level 2 VRQ Diploma in Engineering Technology • Level 3 Sub Diploma in Engineering 60/90 credits Year 2 • Level 3 VRQ Diploma in Engineering Technology • Level 3 Adv Diploma in Engineering 120/180 credits Year 3 • HNC in Engineering (2 years of study)


Additional Learning Support Financial • Learner Support Fund – trips, books, uniform, kit • Bus pass Learning • Additional learner support either in or out of class for specific learning or disability needs • Study Support to help with assignment work


Course PPE • All learners will wear the following clothing on each day of their workshop College attendance • Smock or overalls • Steel toe capped shoes/boots


Study Requirements • Stationery to include Pens, Pencils, Rule and Notebook • Memory Stick • Scientific Calculator


Course Outline • 18hrs each week over 3/4 days, may be half days. • 1 late evening session (5.30) may be timetabled • English and Maths GCSE if required • Tutorial for personal development Expectation of completion of independent study • Regular progress reviews/ tracking • Work experience L1 (64 hrs) and L2 (32 hrs)

Work Experience Opportunities Work experience is encouraged in a vocational programme of study. It will: • Improve confidence • Improve practical skills • Develop a range of transferable employability skills e.g. communication, team work • Will enhance your CV • Prepare you for the world of work • Impress a possible future employer • Between 30 and 60 hrs


Improving Your English and Maths Maths and English are a mandatory part of your Level 2 and Level 3 programme. • If a student has x 2 grades at (3/D) will be studying both maths and English GCSE • If they have x 1(4/C) and x1 less than(4/C) will be doing x1 GCSE • If a student has A – C in both maths and English may be offered a L3 standalone maths qualification


Photograph / ID Cards • You will have your photograph taken to produce an ID card • It is ESSENTIAL to wear the ID card at all times for safety reasons • There will be no access to the college if the ID card is not visible


Contact Details on Database • All learners details are on a Central Database • Please ensure that any change of mobile telephone number or address is notified. Tell your Course or Personal Tutor • All learners will give details of next of kin in case of emergency or to discuss progress for those under 18yrs • The tutors can only contact this person for Data Protection reasons


Progression Opportunities • Each course of study will give the opportunity of progression on the completion of the a programme. • Learners will only have the opportunity to progress if they complete the course started in full with attendance that is at 90% or above.


Personal Achievement Tutor A Personal Achievement Tutor will be your Personal Tutor You will also have a Course Tutor to teach you and guide you throughout your course The role of the Personal Achievement Tutor is to: – Track and review personal development – To support learners ‘at risk' of not completing their course. They will work closely with course tutors and offer one-to-one meetings with learners – Support with issues affecting learners coming to college which can include financial, personal, safeguarding as well as motivation issues. – Signpost and refer to a wide range of external agencies to provide more specialist support.


Student Services We have extensive resources and services to support and guide learners throughout their time at Tresham Guidance and Liaison Staff They give advice on: • choosing, starting or changing your course, • careers advice and guidance, • information on taking a gap year • preparation for Higher Education • CV writing • financial support
