BOARDING AND WRAPAROUND CARE

“We look to provide a warm, secure environment where boys feel happy and comfortable in our care.”
Ed Loader, Eagle Housemaster

House for every boy

Eagle House is a welcoming home for boys in the Prep School where everyone has the chance to become part of the family. Eagle House supports all boys, whether boarders or day boys, by offering full, weekly, flexi and occasional boarding, as well as daily wraparound care.

About Eagle House

At the heart of the Prep School campus, Eagle House offers boys a place to relax and feel at home.

Purpose-built for junior boarders, it offers comfortable areas for relaxing, playing and studying, and spacious ensuite rooms, sleeping four to eight boys.

Houseparents Ed and Sarah Loader ensure a warm, family atmosphere, supported by four Matrons, an Assistant Housemaster, a Resident Tutor and academic staff.

Boys complete their homework in a dedicated study room with supervision and support every evening. Boys’ recreational needs are well catered for, too, with a large common room, games room and a music room to practise the piano or other instruments.

There is always plenty to do and enjoy with the Prep School’s all-weather pitch steps away from the rear of the house and the whole range of school facilities available at weekends. Visits and outings are also regularly organised such as trips into town, Saturday night movies and excursions to trampoline parks, go-kart tracks, escape rooms and zoos.

As part of the Bedford family, boys flourish in a caring and supportive environment. They learn to become independent, confident and organised, and respect all other house members. Eagle House becomes an extended family for boys, helping them to develop socially, academically and organisationally before they move into the Upper School.

Boarding Options

Full Boarding

Our full boarders live at Eagle House throughout the term, returning home to their family or a guardian during holidays and for exeats. Full boarding is available from Year 5 onwards.

Weekly Boarding

Boys who opt to weekly board leave for home on Saturdays after sports fixtures or on Fridays after school for boys in Years 3- to 5, and return to Eagle House on either Sunday evening or Monday morning. Boys benefit from having extra time for activities and clubs and support with their homework, so when they go home at the weekend they can enjoy pure family time.

Flexi Boarding

Boys stay at Eagle House for a set period every week (usually two or three consecutive nights per week). This option is ideal for boys with early morning clubs, for busy parents or as a stepping stone for building up to weekly or full boarding. During their stay, boys become part of the Eagle House community. Flexi boarding includes supervised homework, evening meal, supper, breakfast and a range of activities.

Occasional Boarding

Eagle House also offers ad-hoc occasional boarding for times when unexpected work, family or school commitments create logistical challenges - space permitting. Occasional boarding includes supervised homework, evening meal, supper, breakfast and a range of activities.
