Swinging at The Cotton Club
Take a step back into 1920s & ’30s New York City and through the doors of Harlem’s hottest nightclub, ‘The Cotton Club’! This action-packed show celebrates the music and dance of the Cotton Club – New York’s most celebrated nightclub of the 1920s and ‘30s.
Happy New Year and welcome to our 2023 spring season!
Last year, we visited The Edinburgh Festival Fringe once again (after a two-year break!) so we are delighted to see the return of shows found here into our programme. These include Buffy Revamped, Fanboy and Sold. All, of course, come highly recommended!
From our comedy programme we see the return of Simon Brodkin with his brand-new show Screwed Up. His last show so was so popular we had to put on a second performance! Other comedy highlights include Zoe Lyons and Jack Carroll.
One exciting event in our spring programme is Life After The Navigator. Those of a certain age will remember the 80s movie Flight of The Navigator. Well, this is a specially licensed screening of this documentary telling the story of Joey Cramer (David Freeman in the film) and what happened next. The director Lisa Downs will be in the room with a live Zoom call to the man himself for a post screening Q&A!
Many thanks for your continued support.
We have signed up to the Family Arts Standards. We welcome families and to help you enjoy your experience we are committed to ensuring we meet these Standards. As we continue to improve our service for families your views are very important to us – so please let us know if you have a good experience with us or tell us what you’d like us to improve.

A group of camp counsellors are stalked and murdered by an unknown assailant while trying to reopen a summer camp which was the site of a child’s drowning and a grisly double murder years before. Fridays will never be the same again… IMDB Rating: 6.5
Seventy minutes. Seven seasons. One Spike. Fresh from a smash-hit run at Edinburgh Fringe, this fast-paced new production brings you the entire 144 episodes of the hit 90s TV show, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, as told through the eyes of the one person who knows it inside out… Spike.
Funny, satirical and bursting with 90s pop-culture references, it’s the perfect parody for Buffy aficionados and those who never enrolled at Sunnydale High alike.
Created by comedian Brendan Murphy whose last show, Friend: The One with Gunther, recently won the award for Best Play in the Worldwide Comedy Awards.

Joe has always been a nerd. In his teens, he hid it. In his twenties, he owned it. Now in his thirties, Joe’s started to sense something: a great disturbance in the fandom... Alone, sorting through his old things, Joe finds an old video tape, in an old VCR, long forgotten. He presses play – and something amazing starts to happen...
In this love-hate letter to pop culture and nostalgia, Joe Sellman-Leava (Fringe First, Labels) explores our relationship to our past and future selves and asks why his generation is so obsessed with its childhood.
Combining epic storytelling, razor-sharp impressions and a dose of theatrical magic, Fanboy comes to The Quarry Theatre following critically acclaimed performances at Edinburgh Festival Fringe and Soho Theatre.

Finally – the scandalous truth behind EastEnders revealed!
Gasp as walk-on actor Tony Coventry lifts the lid and spills his beans!
Obsessed fan Tony Coventry has every EastEnders episode on video, but when he lands a bit part on the show, his dream job soon turns into a nightmare. Tim Fountain’s hilarious play is a blackly comic look behind the scenes of Britain’s favourite soap.
Take a step back into 1920s & ’30s New York City and through the doors of Harlem’s hottest nightclub, ‘The Cotton Club’!
‘Swinging at The Cotton Club’ is the action-packed show celebrating the music and dance of the Cotton Club – New York’s most celebrated nightclub of the 1920s and ‘30s.
Performances by Duke Ellington, Louis Armstrong, Cab Calloway, Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald, and Fats Waller would have had the club swinging - whilst dancers such as Bojangles Robinson and the Nicholas Brothers lit-up the stage with their breathtaking routines.
In the show the exhilarating dance and music of the Cotton Club is recreated by the fabulous Lindy Hop Dance Company, alongside The Harry Strutters Hot Rhythm Orchestra, featuring American vocalist Marlene Hill and compere/ vocalist Megs Etherington.
