FOCUS ON UPCOMING BEDFORD GIGS

THE PARROTS + SPECIAL GUESTS TBA: Esquires – Sun 29th January

Long overdue return to Esquires after two previous visits when as a four-piece they bought the house down, was the last visit really over four years ago – afraid so! Madrid’s The Parrots have recently announced a January release date for their kinetic new album ‘Dos’ on Heavenly Recordings 2021 and are gearing up to unleash their upgraded sound on ears and minds. Now a duo, (Diego García & Alex de Lucas), ‘Dos’ is the follow up to acclaimed 2016 debut ‘Los Niños Sin Miedo’ and shows the band taking an evolutionary step that fi nds them sounding stronger and more realized than ever before, from their original characteristics of stripped-down melodic garage rock to a fresh sonic perspective. Produced by Tom Furse (The Horrors) and mixed by Claudius Mittendorfer (Parquet Courts, Weezer, Panic! At The Disco, Temples), the Parrots fi nd themselves experimenting with more modern production soundscapes and electronic grooves. Tickets fl ying out….

With a focus on a raw, darkly theatrical live show and prioritising experimentation in the studio, the band – whose notoriety has grown largely by word of mouth – stay creatively unpredictable and continue to elude category.

INDEPENDENT VENUE WEEK

Independent Venue Week returns for its ninth consecutive year – the annual, seven-day celebration of independent music venues around the United Kingdom is back for 2022. #IVW22 will take place across the nations – England, Wales, Scotland, and Northern Ireland – from Monday 31 January to Sunday 6 February. Each year, Independent Venue Week celebrates hundreds of truly independent venues and their communities, across the UK. The initiative provides a huge spotlight on the grassroots ecosystem within the live music sector, which has experienced the toughest 18 months in its history. This is an ecosystem which not only includes the venues and the people that own, run and work in them, but also artists, managers, crew, the kit, merch, ticketing, tour transport companies, and the all-important music fans and gig-goers – much of who now need their communities support more than ever. Esquires as ever has a host of amazing shows booked in; Pom Poko, Opus Kink & The Goon Sax with the recently announced James Bay date (sorry folks, sold out in under a minute). Keep your eyes on Esquires social media for further announcements.
