Opportunities

Volunteering brings great rewards and your time will be well spent as you support the community around you. We are bringing new opportunities on to our Simply Connect system every week and you can view these and many more at our Simply Connect online facility where you can register as a volunteer and apply.

We are looking for practical and creative people who wish to create bespoke pieces from donated furniture and fabrics. Upcylers may be based either in our Bedford workshop, or may work from home.

Linking Lives – Befriending Service Volunteer

Our Befriending Service Volunteers contact and visit adults in need of a listening ear and friendship establishing a good relationship and going on to offer help with integrating into activities in the local community.

Friendship Link and Action Group – General Helper

We are looking for volunteers to help our events for adults with a physical or learning disability in the Bedford area to run smoothly. Some events require volunteers to help with non-personal support, such as pushing a wheelchair or getting a drink from the bar.

Cancer Research UK – Committee Members

We are seeking committed individuals to take on the exciting role of being part of a committee to organise an annual Relay For Life in Bedfordshire. Each Relay is an overnight, community-led, nonathletic event where teams set up camp and take it in turns to walk around a track for up to 24 hours to signify that ‘cancer never sleeps’.

Age UK Bedfordshire – Advisor (Home Visits)

You will be part of a service to people who cannot attend Age UK offices but need support in gaining access to information and advice or completing forms. Home visits can be made with a member of staff, or another volunteer.
