Dear friends

Another first from Bees for Development: this edition of Beekeeping & Development will be accessible to Portuguese readers*.

The articles appearing in every edition of Beekeeping & Development have often been translated from another language before publication. Just look at the range of nationalities of the authors contributing to this edition: they include Ole Hertz Eigil Holm, Bo Vest Pedersen (Danish), Luigi Passoni (Italian), our ICIMOD friends (Nepali, Pakistani), Borje Svensson (Swedish) and Angela Mwakatobe (Tanzanian).

There is a nice Afghan proverb: When honey is poured out, some sweetness always remains in the jar. In other words, it is inevitable that some times when translating from one language to another, a little of the meaning is left behind. But not in this edition! Excellently translated into Portuguese for us by our friend Breno Freitas of Universidade Federal do Ceara, Brazil.

Thank you for all your hard work Breno, and all the authors who have made contributions to this special edition. Boa leitura/Good reading!

* Please see the original journal to see the Portuguese version.
