VP-P20II preliminary setup instructions Mechanical screen assembly - Put the screen together using the quick lock adapters o Always fix the “VP-20 BRACKET” first: suspended to the ceiling or truss construction.  Make sure that the ceiling/truss construction can support the complete screen!  Each bracket can support a column of up to 10 panels. (screen height = 6,4m) o Fix the panels in rows: first install the brackets before you start lock the upper row. This makes it easier to build the screen together.

Electrical screen assembly Please refer to the drawing:

The drawing shows the screen from the front side, follow the instructions below: This is only an example, you can use different wiring paths to setup the screen.

- Data (video signal): is cabled using CAT5 cables with special “lockable” RJ-45 connectors. o Start from the lower left corner and daisy chain the panels (1 to 4) from the first column, using the supplied short CAT5-cables. o Connect panels 4 and 5 together, using a slightly longer CAT5 cable. nd o Daisy chain the panels from the 2 column: use the short CAT5 cables to connect panels 5-8. o Connect panels 8 and 9 together, using a slightly longer CAT5 cable. o Continue this process until all panels are connected as shown on the drawing.

- Power (230Vac) is cabled vertically: always from bottom to top. o Use the small 30cm power cables to daisy chain panels in a column.

Note: a special power cable (VP-POWERLINE 4/30P) is available: it has a length of 4m and has 4 outputs so you can connect 4 colums and up to 30 panels.

Alternative setup: the screen can also be separated in different columns (often used on stages). In that case a longer CAT5 cable can simply be inserted in the setup. On the example: a longer CAT5 cable between panels 4 & 5 and panels 8 & 9.

Interface cabling You need a Windows PC (or laptop) + “VP-PC INTERFACE” + the assembled screen, containing VP20II panels with internal scan boxes.

- PC  VP-PC INTERFACE: 2 lines are needed: o USB line: use the supplied USB-cable. Important! Before you connect the VP-PC INTERFACE to your PC, you should install the USB-drivers! (see attached file with drivers) o DVI line: if your PC has an HDMI output, you can buy a simple HDMI/DVI conversion cable. If your PC only has VGA output, you will need a USB/DVI-converter. In fact this is an external video card which converts USB signals to DVI. (possible supplier: www.manhattan-products.com “hispeed USB2.0 to DVI converter”) - VP-PC INTERFACE  VP-P20II SCREEN: 1 CAT6-cable (or CAT5-cable) can be connected between the U-sender output (check that you are using the U-sender output!) of the VP-PC INTERFACE and the RJ45 input of the first video panel in the screen (panel number 1). This cable can reach a length up to 100m.

Software setup -

To be sure that you install the latest version of LED Studio: please don’t use the supplied CD-ROM! Instead go to the product page of the VP-PC Interface on our website (link = http://en.beglec.com/product/5201) and download the latest LED Studio version.

Install the program and follow the instructions below: Select ENGLISH as installation language (DO NOT select another language, you will not be able to follow the instructions !!! – Moreover the translations in other languages are sometimes terrible and very confusing!)

Registration information: o Name: put your name o Company: put the name of the venue or your company. o Serial: just put key in  888888 Press the “next” button  software will be installed.

Start LED STUDIO program Open the OPTION menu and select “Software setup”  a new window opens.

Put the cursor (Windows arrow) somewhere in the grey area of this new window (so NOT in a data input box!) and press the letters linsn on your PC-keyboard (you will hear some noises while typing this word but no characters appear)  a password window opens.

Please insert the password 168 and press the OK button.

VP PC-Interface: loading the parameters (one time operation) Here we will setup the parameters of the VP PC-Interface.

- In the new window (setup hardware parameters): choose the option “Sender” on the top  the screen on the right appears.

- Press the button named “Default” to load the default settings.

- Press the button “Save on sender” to save these settings to the VP PCInterface.

DVI output on your PC: important note!

Your PC needs at least 2 screens: screen1 (main screen) is your normal PC-screen, used for your applications. Screen2 will be the LED Screen (video wall) that will be connected via the DVI-output or HDMI-output on your PC. Configuring the video wall with the LED Studio software is in fact nothing more than telling the VP PCInterface which part (or parts) of the main screen should be captured and shown on the video wall.

In order to function well, please note that screen2 should be set to display resolution 1024x768. (default setting in the software).

You have different options for screen2 (the video wall via DVI or HDMI-output): this is done in the display driver of your PC’s graphic card. This part is different for each graphic card so it’s difficult for us to tell you how to do this setting, please refer to the documentation of your PC. A. Screen2 is setup as a “clone” (perfect copy) of the main PC-screen: please note that when your main screen (screen1, running windows desktop) is cloned to screen2, your main screen will be set to the 1024x768px resolution of the video wall, this is normal because both screens are a clone from each other.

B. Screen2 is setup as an “extension” (extra part) of the main PC-screen: in this case your screen1 does NOT need to have the same resolution as screen2 so you can continue using your original screen resolution. Screen1 should be indicated as the screen for Windows desktop!

Important: screen2 starts where screen1 stops! So for example: if screen1 has 1920x1080px resolution, screen2 starts at pixel 1921! This is important when you determine the part of the screen that needs to be captured.

C. DVI-input comes from another source: If you are using an Apple Mac® or some other digital video source, you can simply use your Windows PC to run LED Studio. Once the screen was configured, you don’t need LED Studio (on the Windows PC) anymore.

PS: when the DVI-output is active (sending data) and the VP PC-Interface is connected via DVI, the green led on the back of the VP PC-Interface is blinking.

Loading the parameters (one time operation) Attention  normally you don’t need to perform this action, the correct parameters are already loaded in the video panels!

You should only load the parameters if (by accident) the original parameters were deleted or changed) - In the window (setup hardware parameters): choose the option “RECEIVER” on the top  the window appears.

- On the bottom press the button “Load from files” and load the file “VP-P20II.RCG” (configuration file, to be downloaded from the product page, link = http://en.beglec.com/product/5213)  on the upper right of the window you will see the name of the file appearing.

- Press the button “SEND TO RECEIVER”: in the new window select ALL and press OK.  When everything works well, you still have to save the settings permanently to the video panels.

To do this, press the “SAVE TO RECEIVER” button: in the new window select ALL and press OK.

Attention: the “Setup hardware parameters” screen shown here represents the parameters after the “VP-P20II.RGC” configuration file was loaded.

Configuring the screen (different for each new screen configuration) Here we will tell the video panels which part of the screen they will be used for.

- First connect the complete screen together and make sure that a green led is blinking on each of the video panels. This blinking led indicates that the video panels are communicating with the VP PCInterface.

- In the window (setup hardware parameters): choose the option “DISPLAY CONNECTION” on the top.  the following window appears:

Some parameters need to be filled in. For the 4x4 screen in this example we have to fill in the following: o Type: real pixel display o Horizontal card: 4 o Vertical card: 4  16 pink boxes (representing the 16 video panels) appear. o On the right of the vertical card you can choose different standard ways to make the cabling. For a simple screen as this one, we can use one these presets to make things much easier!  Since the cable is connected to panel1 (on the left down part of the screen) we we will choose the preset “Left Down N” (cable starts left down and is cable in an “N” zigzag wiring scheme)  The 16 pink boxes are now automatically numbered in the exact same order as the panels in the wiring diagram.

Some additional things to check: When you press a pink box it turns black and the parameters are shown below: - For all video panels the card brightness for red+green+blue should be 255.

- The main cable should always be: “1 No. sender U cable (1U)” - Width and Height of the panels should always be 32 (32pixels high by 32pixels wide) Sending the configuration to the video screen: - When all boxes are checked and OK, press the “SEND TO RECEIVER” button to send all the data to the screen.

- The screen should now display correctly: you still have to save the settings permanently to the screen. To do this, press the “SAVE TO RECEIVER” button - If you want to save the current setup for use in the future: press the Save to file” button and give the file a name that corresponds to the screen configuration.

- Press EXIT button until come back to the main screen of the program.

Location of the screen capture area: The screen works simply by sending the contents (copy) of a portion of your PC-screen to the video screen. So the output of any program you drag in this area will be shown on the screen. Of course you need to know which part of the screen is copied to the screen. To make this part visible, do the following: - Open the Option screen and select “Screen area (Y)”  a small part of the screen is marked by a red square.

All windows dragged inside this square will be copied to the video screen.

- You can choose which part of the screen is captured by using different values for the start-X and Start-Y parameters.

- On the bottom of this window you can choose to put the square permanently on the screen: easy to find the captured screen area.

Some remarks: - Start X=0 ~ Start Y=0 means: upper left corner of your monitor screen. o When screen2 is setup as “clone”: the red capturing area will appear on your monitor, all contents dragged in this area are displayed on the video wall. o When screen2 is setup as “extension”: capturing will be done on the desktop extension. To do this you have to re-locate the upper left point of the capturing area: if your desktop screen (main monitor) has a resolution: o 1980 x1080pixels  Start X should be 1981 to put the capturing area in the upper left corner of screen2! o 1366 x 768 pixels  Start X should be 1367 to put the capturing area in the upper left corner of screen2!

- Display width / height means: the height + width of the video wall.
