SOMETHING ABOUT ME AND MY DESIGN Hi, welcome to Beibei’s portfolio. I’m a skeptical person, questioning everything I’ve been told, and trying to find out the truth constantly. As a designer, I take that habit with me, which has brought me to journeys of searching for the right design solution. I don’t like to settle easily on obvious choices. Instead, I pounder the questions, dig the roots, and shake the core. As a result, I hope I’m able to communicate the messages that can be felt by the heart.

FREE THE POTAT0 STRATEGY / IDENTITY / UX / EVENTS / RESEARCH
This school project is aiming to identify and solve this interesting problem I asked within graphic design capability. To answer the question How could people watch less TV? I researched why people enjoy watching TV so much, and digged deep to see what excessive TV consumption has to do with living a good life. In the end, I had come to the conclution that people generally could live a more fulfilled life watching less TV.
could potentially meet the needs of my target audiences and help solving the problem. Finally, I designed a brand logo that was based on the screen light projection; an marathon event which people can dress up as their favorite characters; an app which helps people to find fun challenges when they get bored and want to settle down with TV and a website that comes with all sorts of 30-days challenges which people can socially engage in personal growth by using the time watching TV.
To futhur develop the project, I identified audiences and stakeholders of the topic. I then create a brand which

INTERACTION DESIGN CONFERENCE 2016 POSTER / BROCHURE / IDENTITY/ APP / WEBSITE In this project, we were asked to choose a design conference and design the promotion materials for it. I was very much interested in this interactive design conference and wondered how can I make design seem interactive. It made me curious about interactive design and starting study about it. After I learned about “The Internet of Things, I was fascinated by its potential role in our future life, and decided to incorporate this concept

into my design. I designed a poster, a brochure, several name badges, a mark, a event app and a website, also signages for the conference. For the brochure, I divided event schedules and speaker information into upper and lower two individual parts within the layout, so that people can quickly go to the speaker page when they interested to a certain talk.

It helps us to relax from our daily busy life, also provides a great place to hangout with friends and our loved ones. For 3 posters, I choose Plantation, Materials and Plans as the sub-topic for each poster. Then, I hand-made all the mini gardens types to express the natural, spiratual, and peaceful feelings a patio can present.

THE FAULT IN OUR LOVE WEBSITE / UI / UX /TYPOGRAPHY This is a typography project from the Type Experiments class. In this class, we created a website to tell a story by using type at a higher concept level. In order to tell a compelling story, we need to incorporate our personal interpretation and express it through unique typography. We need to push the boundaries between legibility and abstraction to achieve the ideal expressiveness.
his theories on love and romanticism. Based on his conclusions, I made the website “the Fault in Our Love”, and in there, I created 3 sections to answer 3 questions: What’s wrong with the way we love? What we don’t know? and What we should know? For the first and the important question, I contrasted two different styles of love by contrasting two fonts. For “classic personality”, I used Futura to indicate “old but good”, and for “romantic personality” I used Anisette to convey the often-change and unpredictable feature of the romance.
I chose the most mysterious thing for me at the moment to be my topic and it was LOVE. What’s right and what’s wrong in the way we love? After research, I found Alain de Botton and 84

5 JUDGE ME BY MY QUESTIONS
I CHALLENGE “Judge a man by his questions rather than by his answers.”
—Voltaire
I’m a skeptical person. I question things that people have taken for granted. When I was young I questioned my mom “Who has a say on how a girl supposed to look like?”, after she said to me, “Can you please dress like a girl?” As a graphic designer, asking meaningful useful questions helped me to work through the problems I’m solving. What’s the purpose of design? How to achieve the goal? What am I trying to say? How should I say it? Who am I talking to?… I don’t settle easily on obvious solutions, instead, I pounder the questions again and again, dig the roots, and shake the core. In the end, I hope I’m able to communicate messages through people’s heart.
