Calvin Klein Life Style Shanghai 08.2016-10.2017

Project Description: Store Area:4100 square feet Located on the first and second floor of Raffles City, a grand shopping mall, in Changning District, Shanghai, this store will be the largest flagship store worldwide for Calvin Klein once itâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s open in October, 2017. It will also be the largest store Raf Simons built after he took over the chair of creative director of Calvin Klein. All the major changes he made after he took the job will show up in this store, including the concept, the new lines and the hugely successful products of 17nyfw.This is the largest and most important store of Calvin Klein currently. The design process began last year and it is still in processing. Calvin Klein Platinum Ginza, Tokyo 12.2016-06.2017

Project Description: Store Area:1455 square foot This is the first store in Asia that has the permission to open a CK Calvin Klein store, formerly known as PLATINUM. The store is owned by a licensee called ONWARD, but our firm designed this store working closely with Calvin Klein Inc together and monitored all the design as well as the construction process. The design concept is similar to the Shanghai storeâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s concrete/fabric concept. Also, this store is located in the center of GINZA, which is a very dynamic commercial district of Tokyo. In this project, we are also working with the CK Asia team, as well as a local Japanese local architecture firm, KAMON ARCHITECTS. Calvin Klein Jeans Store, Macy’s, New York City 10.2016-07.2017

Project Description: Store Area:2850 square feet There was a Calvin Klein jean’s store in Macy’s before but CK aquired a bigger space in Macy’s for a men’s jeans store. According to CK’s market research, in the U.S., jeans are their biggest seller, hence the expansion in one of New York’s largest departments stores. DKNY Concept Store, New York City 11.2016-01.2017

Project Description: DKNY was at a point of also changing the prototype for their store, and expanding the concept of the company. In the past, they had used black and white color schemes as a reminder of the iconic New York City pedestrian stripes. After Public School took over DKNY for a few seasons, they explored a wood theme for the store. We were challenged to create a softer concept for the space, hence the gradient glass and powdery color blocks. Project Description: Area:2,000 sq feet This is an apartment renovation in Washington street, New York. The resident in the apartment at the moment is a painting artist. Before the renovation, the apartment is quite messy, and because of the ceiling height of New York, is quite cranky and dark with very limited of sunlight. The goal is to transform it into an apartment with a more opened spaceand reorganize the space order, to move around things and make it a nicer apartment to live in. Area:4,500 sq feet Description: This is a town house renovation in Brooklyn. The house was used to belong to a group of artists and they painted it all black for an art project shooting when my client bought it.The current situation made it impossible for other people to live in. The goal is to convert the single house to two rental units and renovate the faรงade. The original cladding was demolished after a new wood cladding with a more modern feeling is being introduced. Fairland-Art Fair as A Pilgrimage Columbia GSAPP Advanced Studio VI Instructor:Galia Solomonoff 02.2016-05.2016

Area:120,000 sq feet Description: Artworks and Art market are becoming much more significant in world economy than any given day before, art fairs are starting to have a real influence on cities which hold them and related industries. Fairs might be as short as a few days, but the sudden impact they leaves behind is rather important to urban economy and culture. Also, there would be a huge increase in business of hotels and pubs. Think Frieze London as an example, the venue is not massive but yet it has a massive influence on a pretty large radius. Saude in Rio De Janeiro has a very artistic root and itâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s a home for many art galleries and museum, feeds some temporary art programs in the mean time. Pier Maua is the site, and I try to use the most iconic material in Latin America which is concrete, as a structure to host the fair, and try to break the endless fair ground with several surprising spaces. Meanwhile, inside these spaces I try to make them host some related programs as it became a â&#x20AC;&#x2DC;mandatoryâ&#x20AC;&#x2122; trend, this method could be considered as a way to create surprising spaces in an endless fairground. The fair is actually located at the second floor, so the ground floor is completely opened to the public and remaining them a sense of a compact pier. Forgotten Temple Columbia GSAPP Advanced Studio V Instructor:Thomas Phifer& Gabriel Smith 08.2015-12.2015

Area:1,200 sq feet Instructor:Thomas Phifer & Gaberiel Smith Description: Fort Tryon Park is located in northern Manhattan and with a very long history, well afforested, and the cloister was there as well. All factors come together and make it a very beautiful site for a meditate space. This Project is trying to use the most traditional ways of wood construction and creates a dialogue between site and the space. There are just two types of spaces in this project, a hallway, and a meditate space. The building is facing south with a semi transparent facade, confronting 3 trees on site, being able to fully capture the movement of the shadows on the screen. The meditate space is a narrow and relatively high volume, to create a tiny amount of anxiety helping people inside to be more sensitive and aware of the surroundings and focused on the shadow movements. The shadows would become the only connection between the occupants of the space and the outside world, they are going to lose track of time and space. Area:100,000 sq feet Description: A visiting architecture school can provide fabulous shows to the public the same way as touring troupes and circus. This project is trying to figure a way to design an architecture school building as well as to rethink pedagogical possibilities of architecture education. Different schools come to this school/program on a rolling basis, bringing in new thoughts in curriculum, wishing to be hosted. The site of this project is at a very transporting friendly crossroad, resulting loads of exposure to the public.Under this premise, we treat this visiting school as an urban theater. Within the architecture school, we did a robotic platform system helping those supportive spaces to prepare the studio as in theaters Back of House help staging different scenes during a given performance. On the outside, the building provides a vertical plaza system, help the public get more involved. People from different industries could provide ideas from different angles other than architects as well. Project Blue EVOLO Skyscraper Competition Honorable mention Instructor:Shiliang Lu 11.2013-01.2014

Team: Beidi Zhan, Renbo Zhao, Tianshuo Zhang Description: Evolo competition is a concept competition which focus on the consideration of the relationship among future skyscraper environment and urbanism. This project was designed in 2013 when the serious smog problem happened in many Chinese major cities. When the whole world witness the miracle of Chinese economy, and when the whole society is drunk by the quality of life rising as time goes by, the frequent appearance of hazy weather have pulled the alarm and make people realize that the name of ‘factory of the world’ costs China a really fat price. Our solution was to design a kind of ‘walking building’ which can fly within a big region and hunter the smog, then, transform it into the green energy for vehicles. Description: We have a playground for sports and leisure in the inside yard of the neighborhood we live.Yet, we donâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;t have a grandstand or dressing room or any other facilities to rest in.Near the sport ground we found a scene: a dead tree, a living tree and four lamp standards.Later,we build a bridge and a room here, then we have the reason to rest, sing and play together here. Team Member: Beidi Zhan, Renbo Zhao Instructor:Hongpeng Xu Description: The building base is located at the junction of South Second Street, South Third Street and Jingyu Street, Daowai District, Harbin.The interior space is mainly courtyard, surrounded by the architecture with Chinese baroque faรงade, where many old citizens live in, but most of the space has been abandoned. Due to the transfer of Harbin commercial center, the economy of Daowai District is gradually weakened. The original old business model is not changed and new business model increasingly injected, leading to many problems and make original courtyard spaces of vitality gradually decline. The transformation scheme retains the original courtyard shape, which echoes the relationship of the base figure and introduces the subway to inject new business opportunities into old business circle, thus forming a new type of business combination.
