SITE AND CONTEXT: The site for this building is harbin, which was located in very north in China, very cold in the winter. The surrounding context is traditional courtyard house with a great community atmosphere. What I want to re-refine is a new living mode and new construction process.

What is ‘ Open building library’?

‘ Open Building library’ is a building installation list which was established after the time when the building was put into use. Residents are able to design or re-designe their home by selecting different components in this library. These components are produced in module so that all of them can be replaced by new product in same catagory. This building library shows the long-term responsibility from architect. 31

We chose Qunli New District as the place where our site was located. Near our site, there is a wetland park, which is the core landscape of ecological zone. Around the site, the most significant strength is the perfect ecological environment, large area of wetland, not so far away from Songhua River, these are the elements we should focus on and take advantage of.

06 ASSET ARCHITECTURE REDEFINITION FOR 432 PARK AVENUE: FASHION TOWER

Instructor: ALI RAHIM Charactristic: Group Work

432 Park Avenue is a super expensive luxury apartment which located in central Manhattan. But in the future, this building will become a so-called ‘Zombie Tower’ because it is a kind of asset building for rich people which means there is few resident live in these apartment for most of the year. In our project, we redefine the asset for this tower to shift the asset definition in the city and use a crazy non-linear shape to explore the new possibility of new urbanism.

We want to take advantage of the site located near Fifth Avenue, as well as New York as a fashion metropolis to enhance the value of our tower. our tower consists of the vertical mall on the bottom, the fashion show and restaurants in the middle , and the residential on the top. we want to highlight the part of the fashion show, on the one hand, it is the appropriate height that people walking on the street can easily see , so every time the fashion show is able to attract a lot of people which result in more customers to the mall. On the other hand, it can hold not only popular shows like the New York Fashion show but also some daily regular shows, so that people who shopping here have the chance to see different kinds of shows. For people who buy the apartment, they will have more advantages, firstly, they will be the first to know about the latest products. Secondly, they will be the permanent VIP audience, they can freely choose the shows and the position they like.
