Dancing characters Next Friday, Cloud Gate Dance Theater will present one of its lyrical dances, Cursive, in Beijing. The troupe, which has been homeless since its studio and warehouse were ravaged in a blaze last February, is continuing its world tour. Lin Hwai-min, its leader, believes tai chi and martial arts are in the DNA of Chinese dancers. Its Cursive is rooted in the focused energy and movements of calligraphic brushwork.
