Beit Rayim Site Update Cheat Sheet General Items 1. You must not use Internet Explorer for site updates since there are some incompatibilities so please use Firefox 2. Navigate to www.beitrayim.org/admin 3. You will see the administrative page with navigation links to the various site update subsystems 4. Click on the one of the Site Content Management System links 5. Type in the username 6. Type in the password 7. You will see a tabbed interface. The first three tabs are dedicated to the photo gallery. You will be using one of the next three tabs. 8. The “Manage News” tab allows you to enter news or events items 9. The “Manage Pages” tab allows you to edit pre-existing pages and change the menu association/order 10. The “Manage Calendar” tab allows you to add calendar items and associate them to items already uploaded to the site (Documents are uploaded using a feature of the Manage News tabs. A planned change is to consolidate the entry of news/events items and calendar items.) Adding Events or News Items 1. Click on Manage News tab 2. Click on the Add button 3. Pick a category 4. Add a title (no commas in the title please) 5. Type the news item in the large text entry area. The format and styles choices are limited by design so that items match the site’s style. 6. Below the text entry area are the final entry items 7. Select whether you want the item displayed now (Note: to protect the event history, the system does not allow editors to delete items, so the best you can do if you have a problem item is to select N to Display Now and ask the Webmaster to delete it.) 8. Select whether this is a news item or an event (to govern whether it appears on the news or events page) 9. Events items “age” after their display date and are moved to past events 10. News items “age” after the current calendar year and move to the past events page in the next calendar year 11. Enter the event date 12. Enter the display date 13. Press OK and you have a new event or news item 14. Log out 15. Navigate to the current events or current news pages to see your entry 16. The items are sorted by display date


Editing Pages 1. Click on Manage Pages tab 2. Select a row (should have a checkmark in the left checkbox) 3. Click on the Edit button 4. You will see a page similar to the item entry screen 5. Once you are finished editing in the text area, you MUST click on the new button in the “Last Updated� field to make sure the system is able to update the newly edited information 6. Click OK, and your updated page should be visible on the site 7. Log out 8. Please be sure to refresh your browser when you navigate to the newly updated page to see your changes

Adding Calendar Items 1. Click on Manage Calendar tab 2. Click on the add button 3. Fill in the date field 4. Fill in the event filed (no commas please) 5. Fill in the link field if there is a linked document (You must manually enter the link to the previously uploaded document. This is slated for change once calendar and item entry are integrated.) 6. Click OK and your new event is added to the database 7. Click the Update Calendar button on the calendar item list page to add the event to the calendar display system 8. Return to the editing system and log out
