Shalom Hebrew School Families, Welcome back to all of our returning students and welcome to all of our new students and families! First Day of School: From JK to Grade 7: Sunday, September 11th. Due to a last minute change at the York Region Permit Department, we were forced to move our first day of school for all grades to Sunday, September 11th at 9:15 am. There is no school on Thursday, September 8th. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. There is no assembly on the first day of school. There will be staff at the doors to direct parents and students to their classes. Be informed: Please remember that information about Beit Rayim Hebrew School goes out in the Weekly News we email to all parents on Wednesdays. You can also visit our website www.beitrayim.org for more information or our facebook page to facebook.com/ beitrayimhebrewschool. The calendar can change over the year so please take a moment each week to read the Weekly News. You can also find this Weekly News and previous ones from the same school year in our website or by clicking here. Thanks for your cooperation about staying informed and updated. 2011-2012 BRHS Registration Package: 2011-2012 BRHS Registration Package is available on our website. Please provide the deposit for each student registered as well as payment arrangements, including post dated payments and all supporting documentation required in order to ensure a spot for your children. There's Still Space! There is still space available for students in Grade 1. If you know of someone who is looking for a Hebrew program please pass the word along. You can find the Registration Form and full details by clicking here. IMPORTANT - Food Alert: On the first day of school all students will receive Celebration chocolate cup cakes (Kosher and peanuts free) and a juice box. If you feel that this treat is not convenient for your child/dren, please send a note to the teacher, including your child/dren's first and last name. Please remember that the school office closes at 3:30 pm and it's closed on Friday, so if you leave a message or send an email regarding this matter on Thursday after 3:30, it will be picked up on Monday morning. Back to School Package: Those parents who already registered their child/dren, should receive the Back to School Package with information for the upcoming school year at Beit Rayim and also some forms you should complete and return to the office on the first day of school on Sunday, September 11th. All these information and forms are also available on our website. School Calendar: You can find BRHS calendar on our website under the Back to School package link or simply by clicking here. School Council Meeting: If you are interested in finding out more about your child’s Jewish education or want to make our school stronger, you are invited to join the School Council. We welcome all parents and thank all volunteers. Monthly School Council meetings are held on Sundays from 9:30 – 11am. The first meeting is on Sunday, September 25th. We hope to see you there. Beit Rayim Arrival and Dismissal Procedures: Kindergarten: Drop off: The parents should drop off their students at the classroom door. They wait there with the children until the teachers open the door at 9:15 am. Pick up: The parents should wait at the classroom door until the students come out. In the mean time, parents can start taking the “Back and Forth” folders placed outside of the classroom. Older siblings should not be sent to pick up a kindergarten student without previously informing the school. It is our responsibility to ensure that students leave the school with their parents or an authorized person.

Grade 1, 2, 3: Drop off: The parents should take their children to the classroom door and have them wait there until the teacher opens the door at 9:15 am. Pick up: The teacher will take the students outside and wait until all students are with their parents. Grade 4, 5, 6 and 7: Drop off: The students may come into the school by themselves or with their parents, and wait at their classroom until the teacher opens the door. Pick up: The teacher will take the students outside where they can meet their parents. If a parent is late picking up their child: When parents are not in the school on time to pick up the children, teachers will take the children to the office where they will wait until their parents come. It is important for us to know if someone is still in the school waiting for his/her parents. We will never leave the building if there are students around. Late drop-off/early dismissal: Students who arrive late for school must report to the school office to sign in and receive a late pass. If there is a need to take your child out of school before the closure time, parents should go to the school office to sign their child out. An administrator will inform the teacher and bring the child to the office. Teachers may not release students to parents directly and will direct parents to the office to follow standard procedures. Parking Lot Reminder: Please keep in mind that the parking lot can be a stressful place for everybody. We hope that parents and children will practice Derech Eretz when interacting in the parking lot. Handicap parking spots are for people with valid handicap stickers on their car. Please be extra mindful of this when visiting our school. Did you move? Did you change e-mail? Do you have a new phone number? Please contact the school office to update your information.
