ALUMNI HIGHLIGHTS
ALUMNI ENGAGEMENT A key focus for 2013-2014 was increasing alumni engagement with the Belk College. With the hiring of an alumni relations manager in 2013, the first such college-based position at the University, the College greatly expanded its capacity to connect with its 26,000+ alumni through programming and communications. Alumni returned to campus for the first Belk College Day during the inaugural UNC Charlotte 49ers Football season, connected with undergraduate students through hands on service projects and the Freshmen Picnic, and participated in an Alumni Coffee networking
series before the Babson Capital/UNC Charlotte Economic Forecast. Alumni mentored graduate students through the newly established Coffee Connections program and congratulated our newest Belk College alumni at the December and May Commencement Receptions. The Belk College established the Alumni Council, a volunteer board of alumni strategically representative of our alumni base in varied class years,
industries, academic programs, and geographic regions. The Alumni Council was charged with assisting the Belk College in developing programming and events to meet the diverse needs and interests of our alumni base. The Council, comprised of 42 alumni members, helped plan social, professional, athletic, service, and educational events in its first year and created a scholarship for a rising senior.
