t may still be winter in some parts of the country, but in the wonderful state of Arizona, temperatures are already on the rise. We are in the midst of our spring-like season and that means a transition from winter to summer for your home. From sprucing up your lawn and garden to replacing the batteries in your safety devices, you can use the following “spring cleaning” tips as a guide to some TLC for your new home. 1. Revisit Your Roof. Our roof is often out of sight, out of mind, and we don’t always notice a problem until the leak is visible in our ceiling. By that time, it has gone too far for just a repair. Spring is the perfect time to check your roof and gutters for any damages that may have occurred over the winter months. Also, make sure and remove any debris that may have collected in your gutters, that causes clogging, which leads to foundation erosion, mold growth and a breeding ground for mosquitoes and termites. 2. Lurking Leaks. Check all outdoor hoses and pipes for leaks that may have formed over the winter. Inspect all indoor faucets and toilets for drips and leaks and clean mineral deposits from the shower head. If you keep up with minor repairs now, it will save you water and money in the long run. 3. Paint Pick-Me-Up. A fresh coat of paint, whether it be an interior accent wall or a refreshing exterior makeover, can be a welcome change for spring.
