Message from the President
Dear Friends, Welcome to the 43rd Annual Golden Bell Auction, Swing. Sip. Sway. This year’s event takes us back in time to the ‘40s—an era marked by a strong sentiment for home and family. We liken the community that we enjoy with our parents, alumni, friends, and students to those same sentiments, and celebrate that relationship—born of mission—this evening. One of the many blessings we enjoy as a school community is the incredible generosity of heart proffered by our “Bellarmine family.” Combining this spirit with the enthusiasm and dedication of our faculty, staff, and coaches makes Bellarmine a truly remarkable place. Tonight’s proceeds will support our Direct Financial Aid Fund. Your active participation in this evening’s silent and live auctions will meaningfully impact the lives of students who otherwise would not have the opportunity to attend Bellarmine due to financial concerns. Raising $4.8 million to support tuition assistance this year—the most of any high school in the Bay Area—is a significant and worthy challenge, one that we embrace whole-heartedly because it speaks to the core Ignatian value of seeing God in all people. We know that although nearly 25% of our students receive tuition assistance, 100% of our students benefit from the experience of a diverse learning community. I am grateful to those who have generously supported the auction in ways great and small—our underwriters, hosts of our gift-gathering parties, and those who have donated items for the silent and live auctions. You, as well as our many volunteers, make this evening memorable and successful. Thank you to our Boards of Trustees and Regents for their stalwart support, and to Sal Liccardo ’52, chair of our Trustees, and alumni parent Andy Schatzman, chair of our Regents, for their leadership and service to Bellarmine. Finally, thanks to the members of our Office of Advancement for planning and executing tonight’s event. Once again, welcome and thank you for being here with us this evening. Your support is a critical component of carrying out our mission to form young men for and with others. God bless and Go Bells! Gratefully,
Chris Meyercord ’88 President

Bellarmine College Preparatory is committed to the belief that all people are created in God’s image, that we are all unique reflections of God’s love and presence. That commitment is reflected in our dedication to educate students who have the potential and desire to cultivate their God-given talents, regardless of socio-economic background. An increasing number of students are dependent upon tuition assistance in order to attend Bellarmine. They are ready to open their hearts and minds; to learn with passion and live with purpose. Each of us in attendance tonight can help them on their journey of discovery and exploration by making a contribution during this Last Bell Standing campaign. Every gift opens the door to new possibilities.
I am so thankful for the opportunity to have this fantastic education. When I was applying for high school, one of my teachers told me, ‘God will take you wherever you are meant to be in life.’ I believe that God made the right choice, because when people ask how I like Bellarmine I always say: ‘The first day I stepped onto this campus, I knew that I belonged here.’ - Tom, Class of 2021
