Welcome

I would like to welcome you to the 10th annual Tradition Bull Sale.Together with Diamond L Ranch and Fleming Livestock, we strive to offer bulls that will go out and work for your cow herd. If you have questions or specific needs, you want to look for do not hesitate to contact any of us. For those who are here for the first time, let me introduce us. Ray and Mary Ann are the heart of McKeary Charolais for 39 years. Over the years it has grown and shifted to include Karen and Lynn and now their families. Karen and Chad work fulltime on the farm along with Ray and Mary Ann. Karen and Chad's kids are now entering the cattle world and are involved in everyday farm activities and involved in 4-H and Tae Kwon Doe. Danna is in grade 5, Charlee is in grade 2, and Trace is 4. Danna was able to present a steer and her cow calf pair last year with their virtual 4-H show last year. She is feeding a steer, heifer, and cow/calf pair this year hoping that there will be a 4-H show and CCYA. Lynn and Dallasâ&#x20AC;&#x2122; children are also realizing they have a passion for livestock. Cole finished a steer out last year and is again feeding a steer in hopes of having a 4-H show. Lynn is an RN and works home care, Dallas owns and operates OSY Rentals. Cole in in grade 4, Owen is in grade 1 and Hayden is 4. All three kids play hockey in Luseland.

The Sale method is going to change but the foundation and quality of cattle will remain the same.

This year is going to look a little different as we are moving to an all-online sale. We are as concerned as is everyone else and want to make sure everyone stays safe, so we have decided this is the best option for this year. We will be available for you to come and have a look at your convenience from the 5-7 of March. The sale will be online with the capable staff of DLMS, If you wish to bid or watch, make sure you register before hand. We will also have people available if you want to leave a bid or be on the phone, we will make it work for you. If you have questions about this do not hesitate to call, we will help you out. Bull Shopping season can be a season of unknows, catalogues, foot notes, EPD numbers and sales. To me it is one of my favorite times of the year, where we reflect on our own bulls, meet new friends and customers while revisiting friends and customers from the past. If you need help selecting from our bull pen please give me a call. Depending on what you are looking for I can give you a few options that will work in your search for your next herd sire. I would like to take a minute to thank all the people in the background that make our sale and cattle life possible. We have a great group of friends and family that have always been there when we need help with chores or to fix a tractor or just to sit with and have a beer and relax.

WOW! This guy really puts it all together. He is about as long as you can make them, tons of middle and a square hip. He has excellent feet and legs as well as a tremendous coat of hair. We feel he could also work in the heifer pen with his moderate birth wight and super smooth shoulder. If you like them out of great mothers this guy has one of the absolute best. The 15D cow will likely become a doner for us very soon. She has already produced two outstanding bulls and has another one on the ground this year that we think will be very special.

Gru is a deep bodied, heavy haired bull out of our old “Never Miss” 7U cow. This guy has longevity and predictability built right into him. For those of you who have stood behind us for many years, thank you for your loyalty. For those of you new to the sale, thank-you for joining us.“Wow, didn’t see that coming”…pretty much sums up our thoughts of 2020. The resiliency of the agriculture sector saw a continuation of, what we are known for, the hard driven consistency to produce a product in a volatile world. We’ve taken it all in stride and have been blessed to live the ranch life-style we do and for the time spent together as a family. With the current uncertainty amid COVID regulations and restrictions, we have decided to alter the format of the bull sale and hold an online, live auction through DLMS. Although we will physically miss seeing you on bull sale day, please take advantage of bidding from the comfort of your home knowing you are investing in the quality you have come to depend on. At Diamond L Ranch, our philosophy is to produce profitable cattle. Our cows calve in January - February and must be moderate framed, have a large rumen capacity, must be able to wean a calf every year and live for many years. If she needs a lot of mechanical intervention, the profits will be lost. We are striving to reduce the need for iron, the capital cost for machinery repairs and fuel quickly eats away at profits. Our cattle need to work for us and not us for them. On offer for 2021, we have an excellent group of yearlings and two year olds. Our yearlings come off of a small group of cows and heifers we breed to calve in February. This group generally includes our cows carrying embryos and any new additions to our herd. Our two year olds are out of our April-May calving cows; these bulls are born on pasture, lightly backgrounded through the winter and then kicked back out on grass to develop. None of these bulls have been previously offered for sale, there are no leftovers here. Within both of these groups there are a great selection of bulls that have power and performance without sacrificing the angus calving ease. We have been working with the nutritionists from Blue Rock Animal Nutrition to feed and raise our bulls in a responsible manner. We raise these bulls to work for you; we want them to be effective and efficient in diverse and challenging environments. Terms: The terms of the sale are cash or cheque payable at par at the sale unless satisfactory credit arrangements have been made previous to the sale. The right of property shall not pass until after settlement is made. All settlements must be made with the clerks of the sale before any cattle will be released. The auctioneer shall have the right to refuse bids from anyone who has a previous record of default in payment or who has not made proper credit clearance to the sale with the owner or Sales Manager. Bidding: Each animal is to be sold to the highest bidder. No bybidding will be permitted. A reasonable price base may be set. Disputes: In case of disputes, bidding will be reopened between the parties involved. If no further bid is made, the buyer will be the person from whom the auctioneer accepted the last bid. The auctioneer’s decision in such matters is final. Purchaser’s Risk: Each animal becomes the risk of the purchaser as soon as sold. Animals will be cared for at the purchaser’s risk for a reasonable length of time. Announcements: Errors discovered in the catalogue will be corrected by announcements from the auction stand at sale time and such corrections will take precedence over the printed matter in the catalogue. Buyers are cautioned to pay close attention to announcements. Certificate of registry: Each animal will carry papers issued by their respective breed association. A certificate of registry duly transferred will be furnished to the buyers for each animal after settlement has been made. Breeders Guarantee, bulls: Should any bull (14) fourteen months of age or over, fail to prove a breeder after being used on cows known to be breeders, the matter shall be reported in writing to the seller within (6) six months following date of purchase or (6) six months after the bull has reached (14) fourteen months of age. The seller will then have the right and privilege of (6) six months to prove the bull a breeder. No guarantee is given that semen collected from the bull will freeze. In no event shall the seller be responsible for more than the

purchase price. The seller is not responsible for damage caused by foreign bodies after the animal has been sold nor for sickness not apparent at sale time. Exception guarantee: In cases where the animal was subjected to hormonal or surgical reproduction techniques after the sale, this guarantee shall be null and void. Settlement: Transportation charges on animals returned to the seller are for account of the purchaser. No incidental expenses such as feed, care, A.I., signing fees, interest, veterinary charges, etc., will be charged by either party when making settlement. If the seller is successful in proving the animal in question to be a breeder, the said animal will be reclaimed by the purchaser at his expense. Should the seller fail to prove the animal a breeder, then the buyer is guaranteed a satisfactory replacement F.O.B. ranch or location of origin or a refund of the actual price. Should a dispute arise over the quality of the replacement animal, the Sale Management will appoint a mediator. Accidents: Although every precaution will be taken to protect the safety and comfort of buyers, neither the sales manager, auctioneer, or sellers assume any responsibility in this matter and disclaim any liability, legal or otherwise, in the event of accident or loss of property. Mail or telephone bids: Bidders unable to attend the sale may phone or mail their bids and instructions to the sale manager, auctioneer, or special representatives. Bids must be received in sufficient time prior to the sale. Rights and obligatations: The above terms and conditions of the sale shall continue a contract between the buyer and the seller and be equally binding to both. Resale of animals following purchase in this sale shall constitute a separate transaction which is not covered by the terms and conditions of this sale. It is clearly understood that Bow Slope Shipping is acting only as a medium between the buyer and seller and is not in any way responsible for any failure on the party to live up to his/her obligations.
