A MESSAGE FROM THE HEAD OF JUNIOR SCHOOL
Upcoming Events Science Week Week 6
Book Week Week 7
Assalamu Alaykum Dear parents and carers With the most recent NSW Health advice and living in the Campbelltown LGA, today I officially commenced working from home for the next four weeks, juggling the demands of home schooling my own child and running a household. I would like you all to know that I empathise. These truly are uncertain and challenging times for all of us and it can become easy to lose sight of what is important. Each day however, I try to make a special effort to appreciate the good things in life and all that God has blessed me with. Today that blessing was the sunshine. As we embark on another four weeks of remote learning, I would like to sincerely thank all parents and carers, teachers and students for their continued perseverance and commitment. This week, I would like to invite all parents to add some positive feedback to our Bellfield College Positivity Padlet. Please click on the link below or scan the QR code to have your say.

MRS STEVENSON DEPUTY HEAD OF JUNIOR SCHOOL Dear Parents, Thank you for your continued support of your child’s learning at this difficult time. The news of an extended lockdown will mean that remote learning will continue for most of Term 3. I pray for peace, patience and good health for all of our families. The College has paid subscriptions to the following educational sites. All students have log-ins and teachers set specific tasks for each student to complete. Students may access these sites at any time to complete their personalised activities.

Mathematics, English, Science and more! A comprehensive program of online educational activities for students aged 4 to 12, mapped to the Australian curriculum.
VOLUME 22 • JULY 30 2021 I would also like to remind you that all students have access to the Bellfield College Choice Grids which are linked in their timetables each week. Choice Grids provide many independent tasks for all subject areas, including many non-screen options which is very important!
Kind regards Mrs Natalie Stevenson Deputy Head of Junior School

HAJJ WEEK ILLUMINATIONS'S SPECIAL 2021 Salaamun ‘Alaykum Dearest Parents, I will firstly begin by wishing you all a very Happy Triple (Hajj, Ghadeer and Mubahila) Mubarak! We are certainly living in the most unprecedented times but I am still so blessed to be able to teach the kids something they can still benefit from and apply in their lives. They will appreciate these times in the future by looking back and appreciating technology and of course, the amazing support you all gave as parents to facilitate this remote learning. May Allah (SWT), bless your efforts. I decided to give the kids of Year 2 some Eid day fun by a card-making activity! Most of them did it really well and thoroughly enjoyed it. Here are some snapshots of their work. Insha Allah we pray these testing times are over soon and the kids can have a truly fulfilling school life.

5/6A'S BRUSH WITH ONLINE LEARNING We have had a colourful start to Term 3 with adjusting to life inside the bubble and learning from home. Although it has been a little challenging to follow the timetable and log in to the different online sessions, our students have been tackling this new ‘lifestyle’ with a positive and eager attitude. It is wonderful to see their smiling faces every day during our online ‘LIVE’ learning sessions.
We have continued developing our skills across all our learning areas. In English, we are learning about informative literature and how to investigate and produce factual texts. Our focus of ‘Migration’ has been an engaging unit for our students to apply their historical and critical knowledge and explore more about their own historical timelines and connect with their families.
VOLUME 22 • JULY 30 2021 We have created some fabulous artworks using coffee (can you believe it!). These coffee artworks were made famous by refugees who were detained in asylum centres with very little access to art materials. Students were able to reflect on how these harrowing experiences did not dampen the spirits or mindset of the refugees. Students had a wonderful time creating their artworks from simple household items including coffee, toothbrushes, and a pencil. “Among the most beloved of people to Allah are those who have the best attitudes.” Ms Akram

AMAZING CRAFT PROJECTS IN 1C
Salam Bellfield Families, As part of our ‘100 days of school celebration’ on Wednesday 1C students were encouraged to create a pasta craft project. They were given free range to be as creative as they liked with their craft projects. The boys and girls in 1C delivered some incredibly imaginative and creative craft projects, from pictures, to posters, to jewellery and even clothing! Amazing work as always, 1C. Miss R. Chokr

NSW PREMIER'S READING CHALLENGE Dear Parents and carers, What is the NSW Premier’s Reading Challenge? The NSW Premier’s Reading Challenge (PRC) is not a competition but a challenge to each student to read, to read more and to read more widely. The PRC is open to all NSW students in Kindergarten to Year 9, in government, independent, Catholic and home schools. The Challenge aims to encourage a love of reading for leisure and pleasure in students, and to enable them to experience quality literature. Students must read a certain number of books to complete the Challenge. Upon successful completion of the Challenge, students will be eligible for a PRC certificate in Term 4. When is the challenge? The 2021 Challenge opened to students on Monday March 1, 2021 and will close on Friday August 20, 2021. How does my child sign up? Students will receive their login shortly from their class teacher. Students will use their login to access their online profile and log the books they read online. What should my child read? Please encourage your children to read the books that have been shortlisted on the website prc@det.nsw.edu.au . Students can borrow books from the College library. Also, a trip to your local library is always a nice way to ensure you have the correct books, as they are easy to find. By encouraging and engaging all our students to partake in this initiative we hope to develop a greater love for reading and to further improve their literacy and vocabulary skills. If you need help using the website and the answer cannot be found on the PRC Support site, please contact us at the College on 9606 2666. Warm Regards Miss Balloot K-6 Literacy and Numeracy Instructional Leader
