PDHPE & SPORT UNIFORM Dear Parent/Caregiver, This letter is to inform you of the ongoing discussions on campus with all female students regarding sports uniform. During the past 12 months, we have observed and monitored the way in which our female students wear their veil. Students were informed of the following expectations during grade meets this term as well as small group information ‘Question and Answer’ opportunities; When participating in physical activity, we have observed the veils with pins are not safe as they come away from the veil, are a loose item and a sharp hazard. We have also received feedback from external sports facilities that our students attend, informing us that pins are not permitted for the above reasons as they may compromise the safety of the individual as well as others around them. Things that we need to consider: - the safety of the student and the probability that they can get injured from the pin - the safety of others if the pin was to come away from the veil - wearing a veil that is loose and not secured properly Students received the information outlined above, and also ongoing reminders about wearing a 2 (two)piece white scarf for PDHPE practical lessons and sport. Female students were shown this uniform item and are informed purchases may be made through the uniform shop for a cost of $18.00. The two-piece white scarf fabric is comfortable, breathable and secures around the face ensuring no exposure around the neck. Our aim is to ensure the comfort of our girls during sport time and allow them to participate safely throughout all PDHPE and sports activities. It is expected that female students will wear the two-piece white scarf on days for PE Practical lessons and Sports days effective Wednesday 10th March 2021. Students who do not meet expectations as specified above will be given a restitution task to complete as an alternative to the practical lesson. Purchases may be made through the school uniform shop on a Monday or Wednesday. We hope this may assist families in supporting the dress expectations.
