Asalamu Alaykum Dear Parents I hope you and your families enjoyed a well deserved and restful break together. It’s been great to see our Year 10 students have settled back into their routine quickly and eagerly. I would like to start off by commending Year 10 for their efforts across all subjects during Term 3 and showing responsibility for their own learning. They have matured into young adults and have been emailing their teachers back and forth with all the right questions. Our students have pulled through a tough time, and we hope Term 4 will be easier – God willing. This week brings about both excitement and learning for Stage 5 as they get involved in their first online incursion with Dominic from Moneyvest. This program teaches students how to achieve financial success in life and acquiring skills to manage difficult financial decisions. Students are encouraged to actively engage in this program that is specifically tailored for school students and ask insightful questions that will benefit them in the future.
Wishing you all a blessed and successful Term 4.

IST students have submitted their Robotics assessment "Design a Robot'. Well done to all the students that came up with innovative designs! Students built a prototype of their design and coded a robot simulator online using Scratch to demonstrate what their robot can do. A special mention to Zaynab AlSudany, Urooj Ali, Fizza Hussain, Moammal AlMalky, Hussain Hyder and Mohammed Badawi for demonstrating creative design and/or outstanding coding skills! IST students will be studying the topic The Internet and Website Development this term. Students will learn about the internet, a historical perspective of the internet and intranets. Students will focus on the uses of the internet such as email, research, chatting, messaging and using search engines. Internet software, types of internet protocols, the World Wide Web, controlling access to information on the internet will also be studied. Students will be developing a website during class time. Website development is a competitive industry and developers are in high demand. A Web Developer is responsible for the coding, design and layout of a website according to a company's specifications. As the role takes into consideration user experience and function, a certain level of both graphic design and computer programming is necessary.

Welcome back to Term 4! I hope you enjoyed a well-deserved break and are ready for our final term of the year! During the break, teachers were busy preparing for the term and marking assessments submitted by our very creative students! Challenged with the task of developing a picture book on the life and times of Shakespeare, our Year 7 cohort provided us with some wonderful imaginative and creative stories! From the ABCs of Shakespeare to a tour of the globe Theatre through the eyes of Shakespeare’s son, Year 7 did not disappoint! Our Year 8 students put their persuasive skills to the test through a Ted Talk. Students chose a range of topics from the importance of sleep, to giving to charity, to environmental issues, they tackled them all! Students demonstrated their confidence not only in delivering the talks but developing their ideas in well structured arguments! Finally, year 9 regaled us once more with their acting skills and abilities! They embodied a character from Shakespeare’s King Lear, wrote a monologue, then performed their monologue with great gusto. Students enhanced their performances with costumes, background images and props! It seemed as entertaining for them to create as it was for us to watch! We look forward to enjoying more of our students’ bright, creative and imaginative work in the term ahead! Wishing you all an enjoyable final term of 2021! Miss
Riem Derbasi.
