EDITOR’S VIEW
PINEAPPLE and IRINA SHABAYEVA. The talent simply spilled off the run way in each respective show. Then we go into our fashion editorial part of the magazine. It’s about the clothes, the pose, the photos, the make up and creativity. We see various talents of all different types of backgrounds come together in a number of photos. as long as they bring that that new freshness. Followed by our model spotlight on DEJAH Swanson. A fresh new face in New York. Check out the features of Pastel Barbie, trio and glamourisk.
Dawn leak films me in on her modeling style. While SHARON CARPENTER shows us how she’s burning up the pages in her recent shoot. And talks about her high points on being empire, hosting HQ trivia, being a regular contributor on the Wendy Williams Show and interviewing my personal hero MARK HAMILL. (I totally have his lightsaber. Theme has also added a new section that is near and dear to my heart, ART. in our art section we will be exploring the talents of Shanice Figeroux and Agent X arts. Finally, I want to give special thanks to my wife for giving me the time and place. Eve Chen for setting up talent and being and on the spot MUA. Paloma for helping me out and opening up your studio. And last but not least, God for blessing me with the opportunity to do this.

T
hese last two months have been absolutely amazing for Theme magazine. And in every way this issue is going to prove what I am talking about. We start off with covering fashion week from some incredible designers such as DIRTY
DIRTY
PINEAPPLE
Dirty Pineapple explores the idea that personas from past relationships are recycled through life with one’s different partners. They call it recycled love. The vision of the recycled love concept is about objectifying yourself; the destruction of your ego just for the purpose of feeling; accepting the different roles and experiences in the performance of loving; the good and the bad reprocessed to generate a “new” you. Hence we see the body print made of a collage of various body parts; fake layering print is the idea of different skins; Tie Die made out of words are the things you lose in relationships; with a smattering of the heady touch of Nude.

I’M
a broadcast journalist, a host and a TV producer. I work on-camera for a number of shows - a new one that I just began hosting called “The Royal Report,” which is a one stop shop for all the latest royal family news, fashion and fandom. I cover movie premieres and red carpets for BBC America. I host HQ Trivia, the viral quiz show. And I’m also a regular contributor on “The Wendy Williams Show.” In terms of my own projects, I work on creating and developing shows under my company, Carpenter Media, LLC. I’m always wearing different hats as you can probably tell but they’re all connected. Give us two highlights of your career. The first one that comes to mind is when I played myself on Season 2 of “Empire.” It was the hottest show on TV at the time and I was featured in episode 2 doing what I do - an indepth interview with Jamal Lyon (yes, Jussie Smollett). Cookie bursts in and ends the discussion. Best part about it - when Cookie says “Sharon, I’m the one you spoke to on the phone.” Yes, Cookie said my name! That was epic! Another highlight was probably interviewing Mark Hamill. I’m the biggest Star Wars fan so it was awesome to chat with Luke! biggest hurdle you had to get over? Leaving everyone I loved behind in the UK to start a new life in New York - a city I’d never even visited before I moved here. I didn’t know one person in NYC - but came for school in the hopes of staying and building my career here. It was rough leaving my family, boyfriend at the time and friends. But I stayed focused on the bigger picture to get me through. Another obstacle has been my English accent. I’ve certainly lost out on TV opportunities because of it - and was even told by a network exec that I’d never “make it” because my accent was “a distraction.” Others told me to learn to speak with an American accent instead. I was able to find the strength to be myself though - take it
or leave it. Some companies have left it - others have taken it. And the rest of the opportunities I create for myself. Lastly, I was super shy growing up. If you’d told me as a kid or teen that I’d one day be on-camera speaking live to over a million people at a time, I never ever would have believed it. I was afraid to even speak up in class. My experiences along the way in life, learning to put myself in uncomfortable positions, believe in myself and push hard, are what have gotten me here (and God of course). In today’s world humanity faces many difficult issues. If you were given the mystical power of changing one thing in the world today, what would it be and why? That’s a tough one. There are so many people suffering for so many different reasons but poverty is an issue that I care about deeply. I would provide opportunity - opportunity for clean water, food, shelter, jobs, safety. Opportunity for people to be able to take care of themselves, their families and have a chance at fulfillment and happiness in life. I recently saw images out of Delhi, of thousands of worshippers praying in a highly polluted river in Delhi. These people stood in the river surrounded by toxic white foam. Very powerful photos, alerting us to the extreme struggle they are facing there just to get clean water and air. I’m half Indian and it hurts my heart to see how people are suffering.
