M ATI NG R ECOM M EN DATIONS Awesome Again has shown a great affinity for mares carrying Relaunch and the larger In Reality influence. A total of 26 Awesome Again stakes horses are out of mares showing In Reality within five generations. These include many of his very best runners. Horse of the Year & Hall of Famer Ghostzapper is out of a dam by Relaunch. Preakness Stakes (G1) hero Oxbow and Haskell Inv. (G1) winner Paynter are out of mares by the Relaunch son Cee’s Tizzy as is the 2017 G1SP 2yo Bravazo. We also find In Reality in the pedigree of Hollywood Gold Cup (G1) champion Awesome Gem through his damsire Pentelicus (by Fappiano out of an In Reality mare). The dams of Oxbow and Paynter are full sisters to Tiznow making his daughters very interesting for Awesome Again. Awesome Again has done good work with mares showing Seattle Slew, who we find in the second dam lines of both Paynter and Oxbow. Their second dams are by Seattle Song, also the second damsire of G2W Awesome Baby. Two other Awesome Again stars show this pattern, 8x G1W Game on Dude (second dam by the Seattle Slew son Fast Play) and his 2017 MGSW/ G1SP Awesome Slew (second dam by Seattle Slew). Game on Dude is also an example of Awesome Again’s prowess with mares showing Hail to Reason, as he is one of 17 stakes winners and 28 stakes horses by Awesome Again out of mares carrying this influence. Game on Dude is out of a mare by the Halo grandson Devil His Due and GSW

Golden Mystery is out of a mare by Saint Ballado, a full brother to Devil His Due’s sire, Devil’s Bag. Overall, Awesome Again has sired three graded winners and three other graded-placed runners out of mares carrying Halo. The Roberto offshoot of the Hail to Reason broodmare line has also played a prime role. GSW Awesomemundo is out of a mare by Shuailaan and is one of Awesome Again’s four stakes winners out of Roberto granddaughters. Awesome Again has also sired stakes winners out of mares by Kris S., Lear Fan and Red Ransom. Of the 41 Awesome Again stakes horses that carry a double of Northern Dancer, 10 are out of mares that show the influence of Nijinsky II. G1W Dubai Escapade and Breeders’ Cup Distaff (G1) heroine Round Pound both show Nijinsky II in their second dam-lines as do the GSWs Anew and Tessa Blue. Awesome Again’s first G1W, Toccet, is out of a mare by the Caro stallion Cozzene and he is among the 11 stakes horses that Awesome Again has sired out of Cozzeneinfluenced mares. This sample also includes G3W Ice Festival and MG2W Spelling Again, who is out of a mare by Cozzene’s son, Alphabet Soup. Awesome Again has also sired a stakes winner out of a mare by Maria’s Mon, whose dam is by Caro. Interestingly, the reverse of this cross worked to great effect, producing G1W Awesome Maria. Retiring daughters of Maria’s Mon’s son, Super Saver (out of a mare by Seattle Slew’s best son, A.P. Indy), are certainly interesting for Awesome Again.

M ATI NG R ECOM M EN DATIONS Capo Bastone is by multiple Grade 1 winner Street Boss, a son of the late sire-of-sires, Street Cry. With Mr. Prospector, Northern Dancer and Bold Ruler back in his fourth generation, Capo Bastone should work well with mares from all of North America’s most prominent broodmare lines. Street Boss has done well with a return of Mr. Prospector and reinforcing this influence may also prove beneficial for Capo Bastone. Two of Street Boss’ Grade 1 winners, Danza and Kentucky Oaks winner Cathryn Sophia are out of mares returning Mr. Prospector. Street Boss has also sired stakes winners out of daughters of Mutakddim (by Seeking the Gold), Lemon Drop Kid (by Kingmambo), Not For Love, and out of a granddaughter of Woodman. Cathryn Sophia is out of a dam by the A.P. Indy son Mineshaft, who’s bred A. P. Indy over Mr. Prospector. 2017 GSW Hence is out of a mare bred on the same cross, opening the door for mares from the broodmare lines of other similarly-bred stallions like Pulpit, Malibu Moon, Congrats and Girolamo. The broader Street Cry/Seattle Slew cross has yielded 10 stakes winners, seven of them graded winners. Street Cry and his sons have done good work with Deputy Minister-line mares to the tune of eight stakes winners, half of them graded. Among this sample are a pair of Street Cry stakes winners out of daughters of Awesome Again and Street Boss’ Arkansas Derby (G1) winner Danza out of a mare by the Deputy Minister son French Deputy.

Dixieland Band-line mares deserve strong consideration for Capo Bastone. Street Cry sired Kentucky Derby hero Street Sense and a Grade 3 winner out of daughters of Dixieland Band as well as Breeders’ Cup Juvenile champ New Year’s Day out of a mare by Dixie Union. Dixie Union is also the damsire of a multiple stakes winner by Street Boss. Retiring daughters of his son Union Rags (who shows both Seattle Slew and Mr. Prospector in his pedigree) should also be considered. There are at least 37 stakes winners bred Street Cry over Danzig and Street Boss is the sire of four of those, including two group/graded winners. Overall, there are 24 group/graded winners on the cross, six at the Grade 1 level. Street Boss is the sire of stakes winners out of mares by the Storm Cat sons Hennessy and Forest Wildcat. Overall, there are 19 stakes winners bred Street Cry over Storm Cat, including G1SW Callback (dam by also by Forest Wildcat). Tale of the Cat, Stormy Atlantic, and Harlan (sire of Harlan’s Holiday) are also represented. The Street Boss Grade 1 winner Decked Out is out of a mare by the Roberto grandson You and I (by Kris S). This is the same cross that produced the great Street Cry mare Zenyatta. Mares carrying Meadowlake are also intriguing for Capo Bastone. Street Cry sired G1W Seventh Street and G3W Street Magician from only six starters out of daughters of Meadowlake, also damsire of a Street Boss stakes winner.

M ATI NG R ECOM M EN DATIONS City Wolf is by three-time champion sire Giant’s Causeway out of Broodmare of the Year Baby Zip making him a half-brother to the prolific sires Ghostzapper and City Zip. Fappiano/Unbridled-line mares should be strongly considered for City Wolf. Giant’s Causeway and three of his sons have combined to sire at least seven stakes winners (four Group/Graded) out of mares by the Unbridled stallion Unbridled’s Song. Another six stakes winners are out of dams tracing back to the early Fappiano son Cryptoclearance, grandsire of Candy Ride, putting mares from that offshoot in play for City Wolf. Among the other damsires represented: Roy, Rubiano, Defensive Play, Grindstone (sire of Birdstone) and Quiet American, grandsire of Midnight Lute (by Real Quiet). Unbridled and Rubiano are by Fappiano with second dams by In Reality, City Wolf’s maternal grandsire. Reinforcing In Reality should prove beneficial for City Wolf just as it has been for both Ghostzapper and City Zip. Those two have each sired a pair of G1 winners out of mares returning In Reality within five generations. They are among the ten combined stakes winners they’ve produced with this pattern. City Zip’s Del Mar Oaks (G1) winner Personal Diary and Ghostzapper’s G1W Shaman Ghost are among the seven total G1 winners inbred/linebred to their damsire Relaunch. The second dam of Ghostzapper’s G1W Stately Victor is by another In Reality son

Valid Appeal, also the second damsire of his G2W Hear the Ghost. Along with Fappiano, other Mr. Prospectorline influences recommended for City Wolf include Seeking the Gold, Gone West, Kingmambo and Carson City. Giant’s Causeway has sired four North American Grade 1 winners (and seven total stakes winners) out of mares by Seeking The Gold. Two of his sons have also sired stakes winners on this cross. Giant’s Causeway over Gone West has yielded 13 stakes winners, including three out of daughters of Elusive Quality and two each out of mares by Grand Slam and Mr. Greeley. Giant’s Causeway and two of his sons have combined to sire at least 15 stakes winners out of daughters and granddaughters of Kingmambo, whose most prominent North American son is Lemon Drop Kid. Carson City-influenced mares are an interesting play for City Wolf. Giant’s Causeway and three of his sons have combined to sire at least six stakes winners out of daughters and granddaughters of Carson City, including a 2YO SW of 2017. In addition, Carson City is out of a mare by Blushing Groom, also the maternal grandsire of Giant’s Causeway. There are nearly 50 stakes winners showing a double of Blushing Groom by Giant’s Causeway and sons and over half of those are group/ graded winners.

M ATI NG R ECOM M EN DATIONS Fort Larned has a pedigree free of Northern Dancer and Seattle Slew and should click well with mares from a wide variety of broodmare lines. Danzig, Storm Cat, Dixieland Band, Sadler’s Wells and Nijinsky II hold particular appeal among Northern Dancer-line targets for Fort Larned. The early Fort Larned SW Blonde Bomber is out of a mare by the Sadler’s Wells son El Prado. This cross worked for E Dubai as well: G2W My Gi Gi out of a mare by Sadler’s Wells and G3W Willy Dubai out of a Sadler’s Wells granddaughter. The Sadler’s Wells sire line is going strong in North America primarily through the El Prado sons Medaglia d’Oro, Kitten’s Joy and Artie Schiller. Medaglia d’Oro’s daughters and granddaughters are especially interesting as he is out of a Damascus-line mare. E Dubai has sired five stakes winners, including G2W High Heels, out of mares carrying the Damascus influence. Fort Larned’s sire, E Dubai, has sired stakes winners out of mares by four different Danzigline stallions: Dayjur, Langfuhr, Pine Bluff and Redoute’s Choice. Like Dayjur, War Front and Exchange Rate are bred on the Danzig/Mr. Prospector cross, making their daughters and granddaughters good candidates. Redoute’s Choice is by Danzig’s top son Danehill, whose North American sons include North Light. E Dubai and his sons have sired five stakes winners out of Storm Cat-influenced mares, three of them group/graded winners. The Storm Cat sons Bernstein and Pure Prize are represented in the sample. Fort Larned

should also go well with mares showing the more ubiquitous strains like Giant’s Causeway, Harlan/Harlan’s Holiday, Hennessy/ Johannesburg/Scat Daddy, Forestry/ Shackleford, Tale of the Cat, Forest Wildcat, and Stormy Atlantic. E Dubai has sired a Grade 2 winner out of a Dixieland Band mare and a Grade 3 winner out of a granddaughter of Dixieland Band. This makes mares by Dixieland Band-line stallions Dixie Union, Union Rags and Gone Astray strong contenders for Fort Larned. High Heels also shows Nijinsky II in her pedigree as do two additional graded winners by E Dubai. Mr. Prospector over A.P. Indy has produced in excess of 100 stakes winners. Many of A.P. Indy’s good sire sons are out of Mr. Prospector mares (Malibu Moon, Pulpit, Mineshaft, Congrats, etc.) and E Dubai and sons have sired six stakes winners out of mares that reinforce the Mr. Prospector influence. Two of those are out of mares that show Fappiano, including SW Fordubai out of a mare by Unbridled. This puts mares from the Tapit and Bernardini offshoots in play for Fort Larned as both are bred A.P. Indy over Fappiano. Fordubai is among the 40 stakes winners bred on the Mr. Prospector/Unbridled cross. Nineteen of those are out of daughters of Unbridled’s Song and another trio are out of daughters of Grindstone making daughters of his son, Birdstone, interesting for Fort Larned. Another Unbridled son, Broken Vow (out of a Nijinsky II mare), is the broodmare sire of two more stakes winners in this sample.

M ATI NG R ECOM M EN DATIONS Around half of Ghostzapper’s stakes horses are out of mares showing Mr. Prospector within five generations. The Forty Niner, Seeking the Gold, Gone West and Fappiano branches have proven most effective so far. From 16 starters out of Forty Niner granddaughters Ghostzapper has sired six stakes winners (37%). Three of those are out of Distorted Humor mares - G1W Molly Morgan, G3W Gloryzapper and SW Ghostly Presence. Seeking the Gold is found in the pedigrees of six Ghostzapper stakes horses, including G1W Better Lucky, G1W/G1SP McCraken (dams by Seeking the Gold) and G1W Contested (second dam by Seeking the Gold). G3W Angel Terrace & SW Elghayoor are both out of daughters of Gone West while MGSW Gamble’s Ghost is out of a mare by Gone West’s full brother, Secret Claim. 2017 SW Dak Attack’s second dam is a Gone West granddaughter. Fappiano is found in the pedigree of seven stakes horses by Ghostzapper. G3W Pacific Ocean is out of a mare by Unbridled and MG1W Paulassilverlining (dam by Grindstone) is out of an Unbridled granddaughter. Ghostzapper has produced a high degree of quality with mares showing Mr. Prospector and Storm Bird/Storm Cat. G2W Go Maggie Go is out of a mare by Tale of the Cat (bred Storm Cat over Mr. Prospector) and G1-placed Zapperkat is out of a mare by Tale of the Cat’s son Lion Heart. We also find Mr. P & Storm Cat in the dams of Better Lucky and Elghayoor. Mr. Prospector/Storm Bird are present in the dams of Angel Terrace and SW Ghost Locket.

Ghostzapper’s first two starters out of mares by the Roberto grandson Arch (by Kris S.) are graded winners - Contested and 2017 G2W Proctor’s Ledge (2nd dam by Mr. Prospector). Ghostzapper has had success with mares by other Roberto-line sires like Dynaformer (G1W Stately Victor), Silver Hawk (G3W La Cloche) and another Kris S. son, You and I (2017 G2W Illiad). 2017 juvenile SW Dak Attack is Ghostzapper’s latest success with the Caro broodmare line. He’s out of a daughter of Indian Charlie, sire of Uncle Mo, whose daughters are certainly interesting for Ghostzapper as he’s out of a mare by Arch. Ghostzapper has also sired GSW/ millionaire Za Approval and GSW Mr Maybe out of daughters of the Caro son With Approval. Ghostzapper is out of a daughter of the In Reality son Relaunch and reinforcing these influences has yielded success. Champion/G1W Shaman Ghost shows a double of Relaunch at 3x5. The second dams of Stately Victor and G2W Hear the Ghost are by Valid Appeal. Contested also carries a double of In Reality through Believe It, sire of her third dam. Holy Bull’s sire Great Above is bred on the reverse of the Intentionally/Rough’n Tumble cross that produced In Reality. Breeders’ Cup/ Eclipse Champion Judy the Beauty and 2017 Queen’s Plate winner Holy Helena are among Ghostzapper’s nine starters with Holy Bull mares (22%). Ghostzapper is the sire of six starters out of mares by Gilded Time. All are winners, including Shaman Ghost and G3W Whiskey Ticket.

M ATI NG R ECOM M EN DATIONS Macho Uno has had some of his best and most recent successes with mares carrying the influence of the Mr. Prospector son Two Punch. Breeders’ Cup classic winner Mucho Macho Man is out of a mare by the Two Punch stallion Ponche while 2017 G2SP 2YO Dia de Pago is out of a direct Two Punch daughter. Ponche is bred Mr. Prospector over Nijinsky II. We find Nijinsky II in the pedigrees of nine Macho Uno stakes horses and Mr. Prospector/Nijinsky II combined in the dams of four of those including G2W Overheard. The Fappiano grandson Broken Vow (by Unbridled) is bred Mr. Prospector/Nijinsky II making his daughters interesting for Macho Uno. The dams of Malibu Moon and Tapit are also bred on this cross as is Rubiano (by Fappiano), damsire of War Front. Nijinsky II & Storm Bird are bred similarly and we find the latter influence in the dams of five Macho Uno stakes horses. Among those are GSW/Millionaire Danon Legend out of a Storm Cat daughter and 2017 SW Hy Riverside, second dam by the Storm Cat son Hennessy. Six Macho Uno stakes horses show Mr. Prospector through Fappiano, including SW/ Sovereign Award finalist Decision Day (dam by Unbridled’s Song). Fappiano’s damsire is Dr. Fager, a half-brother to Ta Wee, dam of Macho Uno’s grandsire Great Above. Linebreeding to their dam, Aspidistra is also found in the pedigrees of Classic winner Harlem Rocker, G2W Mucho Mas Macho, G1SP Indulgence and six other Macho Uno stakes horses. The Storm Cat son Forestry and his son Shackleford represent some contemporary sources of Dr. Fager.

From three starters out of mares by the Forty Niner son Distorted Humor, Macho Uno has sired 2017 SW Hy Riverside and G3SP Banree. Distorted Humor is out of a mare by Danzig, an influence also found in Macho Uno’s first G1W Wicked Style and G2 winner Potesta. Overall 43% of Macho Uno’s stakes horses are out of mares that show Mr. Prospector in their pedigrees within five generations. Dams carrying Gone West have participated in this success producing runners like 2017 Saratoga SW Picco Uno (dam by Western Expression) and SW Hampstead Heath (dam by Gone West). Given that Macho Uno is a half-brother to Awesome Again (by Deputy Minister) it’s no surprise that he’s produced good results with Vice Regent/Deputy Minister-influenced mares. Vice Regent appears in a total of 15 stakes horses by Macho Uno, including MG1W Private Zone and current G3W/G1SP Tommy Macho. Tommy Macho is also an example of Macho Uno’s affinity with Seattle Slew, an influence found in 12 more of his stakes horses. Among these is G2W Macho Macho, SW Holy Reina (dam by Capote) and 2017 SW Picco Uno (second dam by Dixie Union who’s out of a Capote daughter). Icecapade is bred on the same Nearctic/ Native Dancer cross as Northern Dancer and mares by his son Wild Again have been extremely successful when bred to Macho Uno. From just eight starters the Macho Uno/ Wild Again cross has produced six winners including G1W Macho Again and G3W Silsita.

M ATI NG R ECOM M EN DATIONS Mares showing the Fappiano influence hold high promise for Mucho Macho Man. Fappiano’s damsire, Dr. Fager, is a half-brother to Ta Wee, dam of Mucho Macho Man’s great grandsire Great Above. Reinforcing their dam, Aspidistra, in the pedigree has been successful over the past few decades and for Macho Uno in particular. We see this pattern in his Classic winner Harlem Rocker, G2W Mucho Mas Macho and SW/Sovereign Award finalist Decision Day (dam by Unbridled’s Song), etc. Mucho Macho Man’s damsire, Ponche, is out of a mare by Nijinsky II and reinforcing that influence may also prove beneficial. Nijinsky II is found in the pedigrees of nine Macho Uno stakes horses including G2W Overheard. The Fappiano grandson Broken Vow (by Unbridled) is out of a mare by Nijinsky II, who’s also found in the pedigree of the dams of Malibu Moon, Tapit and Rubiano (by Fappiano), damsire of War Front. Mucho Macho Man’s dam, Ponche de Leona, has produced two accomplished offspring by Tapit - SW Southern Girl and a $2 million yearling - making his daughters and granddaughters especially intriguing. Seattle Slew-line mares in general are exciting as Mucho Macho Man is a complete outcross to that influence, one with which Macho Uno has had good success (12 stakes horses). Two of Mucho Macho Man’s

top-selling first-crop yearlings are out mares by the Storm Cat sons Pure Prize and Giant’s Causeway. Another Storm Cat son Forestry (and his son Shackleford) are also interesting as they are sources of Dr. Fager. Given that Macho Uno is a half-brother to Awesome Again (by Deputy Minister) it would be prudent to consider Vice Regent/ Deputy Minister-line mares. Vice Regent appears in a total of 15 stakes horses by Macho Uno, including G1W Private Zone and current G3W/G1SP Tommy Macho. Danzig is another Northern Dancer-line influence to target. From three starters out of mares by the Forty Niner son Distorted Humor (dam by Danzig) Macho Uno has sired two stakes horses including 2017 SW Hy Riverside. Macho Uno has sired other good ones like G1W Wicked Style and G2W Potesta out of mares showing Danzig. Mucho Macho Man’s $140,000 Fasig-Tipton Saratoga yearling is out of a mare by the Danzig grandson North Light (by Danehill). The Macho Uno/Wild Again cross has yielded G1W Macho Again and G3W Silsita and one of Mucho Macho Man’s early six-figure yearlings is out of a mare by the Wild Again son Vicar. Mucho Macho Man hails from the same extended female line as Dynaformer and pedigree expert Avalyn Hunter suggested in a Bloodhorse.com post that: “Given that both Mr. Prospector and Blushing Groom have worked very well with Roberto, daughters and granddaughters of Dynaformer may be an angle worth considering with Mucho Macho Man.”

M ATI NG R ECOM M EN DATIONS Epsom Derby (G1) winner North Light is the top son of the all-time great sire and sires-of-sires Danehill standing in North America today. North Light has a pedigree free of Raise a Native/Mr. Prospector and he has done predictably well with mares from this line. In fact, North Light’s most accomplished runner so far, Arctic Cosmos, winner of the historic St. Leger S. (G1), is out of a Mr. Prospector-line mare. The dam of the hero of the world’s oldest Classic is by the Mr. P. grandson Marquetry, a son of Conquistador Cielo. North Light has also sired SW Bodua out of a mare by the Mr. Prospector son Native Prospector. His stakes-winning full brothers Centrefire and Charterhill are out of a mare by another Mr. Prospector stallion, Allen’s Prospect. The second dam of GSP Artic North is by Miswaki. Overall, Danehill and his sons have sired over 380 stakes winners out of Mr. Prospector-line mares. Distant View, Fappiano, Kingmambo, Woodman and Machiavellian are among the most prolific strains in the sample. Machiavellian is the top European descendant of Mr. Prospector and is represented in the North American stud book by the growing Street Cry sireline that includes Street Sense, Street Boss, Street Hero, and New Year’s Day. Mares by Mr. Prospector’s grandson Thunder Gulch (by Gulch) are also promising targets for North Light. Eight

different Danehill-line stallions have sired stakes winners out of mares by the dual American Classic winner. SP Dreaming of Cara is out of a mare by Quiet American, a son of Fappiano whose damsire is by Dr. Fager. We find Dr. Fager in three other stakes horses by North Light, including Bodua and G3W/ G1-placed Celtic New Year. The dam of G3W Go Forth North shows Dr. Fager as the damsire of Cure the Blues (sire of his second dam). Go Forth North is out of a mare by Holy Bull, like Dr. Fager a maleline descendant of Rough’n Tumble. The Storm Cat son Forestry and his son Shackleford are other sources of Dr. Fager. In Reality is out of a Rough’n Tumble mare and his influence also appears in the pedigree of Celtic New Year as well as Centrefire/Charterhill and G3W Chips All In. The second dams of both Celtic New Year and Chips All In are daughters of Valid Appeal. Celtic New Year is out of a mare by the Roberto son Dynaformer and SP Blessed One is out of mare by the Roberto grandson Kissin Kris (by Kris S.). The Danzig-Roberto blend has been prolific over the years and mares that carry Roberto in their pedigrees should continue to be strongly considered for North Light. There now are over 500 stakes winners that combine Danzig on the top half of the pedigree and Roberto on the bottom side. A good number of those stakes winners are by Danehill and his sons.

M ATI NG R ECOM M EN DATIONS Point of Entry is out of the terrific Seeking the Gold mare Matlacha Pass and is the late, great Dynaformer’s most accomplished son at stud. His first four dams, going back to champion sprinter Gold Beauty, are all Grade 1 winners and/or Grade 1 producers.

G1W Star Billing. The Valid Appeal branch of the In Reality broodmare line has also produced a high degree of quality when crossed with Roberto-line stallions, namely G1W Collect the Cash (by Dynaformer) and Breeders’ Cup Champion Perfect Sting (by Red Ransom).

Point of Entry’s first stakes winner, the Adena Springs-bred Glamanation, is out of a mare by the Blushing Groom grandson Orientate (by Mt. Livermore). Dynaformer combined with Blushing Groom to produce eight stakes winners including major Grade 1 winners on two continents - Kentucky Derby winner Barbaro and Melbourne Cup hero Americain. Barbaro is out of a daughter of Carson City (dam by Blushing Groom), also the damsire of Point of Entry’s $515,000 colt at the 2017 Tattersalls Craven Breeze-Up sale.

Daughters of Ghostzapper (dam by Relaunch) are particularly promising for Point of Entry especially given Ghostzapper’s considerable success as a sire with Robertoline mares. Ghostzapper’s G1W Contested is out of a mare bred Roberto over Seeking the Gold and he’s had other top level success with Dynafomer (G1W Stately Victor, etc.) and Seeking The Gold (G1W Better Lucky, etc.). There are 65 stakes winners combining Roberto and Deputy Minister including Dynaformer’s G1W Brilliant Speed. Mares by Ghostzapper’s sire Awesome Again (by Deputy Minister, dam by Blushing Groom) are similarly intriguing for Point of Entry.

Daughters and granddaughters of Giant’s Causeway (by Storm Cat out of a mare by the Blushing Groom son Rahy) are especially interesting for Point of Entry. Giant’s Causeway’s second dam is by Roberto and there are now at least 10 stakes winners out of his daughters showing a Roberto double within five generations. Dynaformer sired at least nine stakes winners and two Grade 1 winners from mares carrying Storm Cat within five generations. Seeking the Gold also clicked with Storm Cat as there are at least 43 stakes winners showing Seeking the Gold on the top half of the pedigree and Storm Cat on the bottom. Dynaformer showed a strong affinity for In Reality, particularly through Relaunch, the broodmare sire of his G1W Starrer and G3W Pommes Frites and the second damsire of his

Mares from the Danzig branch of the Northern Dancer line are worth considering for Point of Entry. There are over 340 stakes winners that show Roberto on the top side of the pedigree and Danzig on the bottom. Dynaformer has sired at least nine of those, five group/graded, including G1W Karlovy Vary. There are over 200 stakes winners that show Seeking the Gold on the top half of the pedigree and a return of Mr. Prospector on the bottom. The Fappiano, Gone West, Gulch, Machiavellian/Street Cry and the aforementioned Carson City branches are all well-represented as are mares by the wealth of stallions bred on the A.P. Indy/Mr. Prospector cross.

M ATI NG R ECOM M EN DATIONS Adena Springs bred, raced and developed Awesome Again into an elite sire followed by his homebred Hall of Fame son Ghostzapper. Now comes Shaman Ghost, the first important son of Ghostzapper to reach Kentucky. Awesome Again has not had overwhelming success when bred to Mr. Prospector-influenced mares but Ghostzapper has. In fact, around half of Ghostzapper’s stakes horses are out of mares showing Mr. Prospector within five generations. Since Shaman Ghost’s female line is free of Mr. Prospector (and Raise a Native) we can expect him to follow his sire’s lead. Mares showing Forty Niner are especially intriguing for Shaman Ghost. From 16 starters out of Forty Niner granddaughters Ghostzapper has sired six stakes winners (37%). Three of those are out of Distorted Humor mares, including G1W Molly Morgan. Medaglia d’Oro who, like Shaman Ghost, is out of Damascus-line mare, has had his best success with Forty Niner - Rachel Alexandra, Songbird, and three 2017 Grade 1 winners. Seeking the Gold is found in the pedigrees of the Ghostzapper stakes winners Contested (G1), Better Lucky (G1) and McCraken (G1W/G1SP). Ghostzapper’s G3W Angel Terrace & SW Elghayoor are both out of daughters of Gone West while his MGSW Gamble’s Ghost is out of a mare by Gone West’s full brother, Secret Claim. 2017 SW Dak Attack’s second dam is by the Gone West stallion Proud Citizen.

Prospector). We also find Mr. Prospector & Storm Cat in the dams of Better Lucky and Elghayoor. Both Awesome Again and Ghostzapper have done good work with the Roberto broodmare line. Ghostzapper’s first two starters out of mares by the Roberto grandson Arch (by Kris S.) are graded winners. Ghostzapper has had success with mares by other Roberto-line sires like Dynaformer, Silver Hawk, and another Kris S. son, You and I. Ghostzapper’s Dak Attack is the latest good one bred on the Awesome Again/Caro cross. He’s out of a daughter of Indian Charlie, sire of Uncle Mo, whose daughters are certainly interesting as he’s out of a mare by Arch. There are now nine stakes winners on the Awesome Again/Caro cross, seven of them graded winners. Seattle Slew-line mares should also be strongly considered for Shaman Ghost. Six stakes winners (four graded) by Ghostzapper are out of Seattle Slew-line mares, including Whitney H. (G1) hero Moreno out of daughter of A.P. Indy. The overall Awesome Again/Seattle Slew cross has yielded 14 stakes winners, half of those at the graded level. Breeders’ Cup/Eclipse Champion Judy the Beauty and 2017 Queen’s Plate winner Holy Helena are among Ghostzapper’s nine starters with Holy Bull mares (22%).
