The first tomatoes were thought to be poisonous, and were thought to turn peoples blood to acid if eaten. Today, the tomato is the most popular fruit, with more than 60 million tons of tomatoes produced each year.

Bell Peppers are part of the nightshade family, which are all flowering plants which also include: potatoes, tomatoes, and eggplants. Bell Peppers hold seeds making them a fruit, and they originate from Central and South America. Just as vegetables don’t exist, neither do green bell peppers. They are just unripe versions of yellow, orange, or red peppers.

Avocados originated in Mexico around 7,000 to 5,000 BC. They contain one large seed, thus botanically speaking are a fruit. Yes that does mean guacamole is just fruit salad. And yes avocados are also referred to as alligator pears.

Pumpkins originated in North America seeds being found in Mexico as long ago as 5500 BC. Pumpkins house many seeds inside them making a pumpkin a fruit. Pumpkins are also the official state fruit of New Hampshire.
Squashes come from Mexico and were around early as 8,000 BC. The entire part of the squash plant is edible including the leaves, tendrils, shoots, stems, flowers, and seeds. Squashes indeed house seeds making them fruits.

Eggplants are also a member of the nightshade family, and originated from India. Also having seeds on the inside eggplants are technically a fruit. In Italy the eggplant was long considered to cause people to go insane and was termed the “mad apple.”

Olive trees are one of the oldest known cultivated trees in the world. Olives first showed up in Crete around 3,000 BC. They house a seed inside them so they are a fruit.
Olives are used in the making of olive oil which is what 90% of harvest olives are used for while the other 10% are the only olives used as table olives.

The earliest peapods where found in Greece, Syria, Turkey, and Jordan. Peapods are actually seed bearing structures, they house the peas in them. So a peapod is considered a fruit, while the peas them self a legume.

Broccoli does indeed not have any seeds, making them one of the few vegetables to actually exist. Other true vegetables include lettuce, carrots, potatoes. Vegetables are classified as all other parts of plants besides the flowering part, such as leaves, roots, and stems.
