? s s e l p o way! o T N A child’s world is full of helmets. Whether when riding a push bike or sitting in the bike seat – a helmet has to go on the head! Even all the everyday hereos that children admire so much never go without – the firemen, construction site workers or the policemen on a motorcycle racing by. Even the cool skateboarders also wear one. And what would dressing up be without Vikings (with helmets!) or knights (with helmets!)? You can’t be without a helmet. And a world of books without a book on helmets just isn’t right. So here it comes!

Claudia Weikert, born 1969, was a member of the studio cooperative LABOR until 2012 and today works as an illustrator in Wiesbaden. Her most recent work with Beltz & Gelberg were illustrations for the anthology Das Tri Tra Trampeltier. Reime für Kleine.
When Etta comes home, her parents hold their breath. For when Etta comes home, she always has an animal with her. Day after day. It’s pointless to argue with her. What started with a cute mouse, went on to be hairy and biting and BIG. HUGE. And ending in chaos... Claudia Weikert puts Etta’s crazy animal community into illustrations with great fantasy. She creates overflowing images that play a duet with the text, telling stories of their own and inviting readers to discover creatures in their hiding places. Great fun for eager children’s eyes.

New stories about Lion – absolutely delicious! Time to get cooking! But the Lioness is tired of only bones! She demands a fine meal, otherwise there will be no more kisses! The other animals‘ advice leaves Lion‘s tummy growling: The bird recommends mousse of worm and fly, the cat swarms about bird wrapped in bacon, the frog loves bug croquettes, the stork, in contrast, prefers fresh frog and chips. Lion starts to understand – to each his own. Whether this realization will help him to create a perfect dinner for Lioness?
Martin Baltscheit is the lion’s father and also an extremely talented creature of tale-telling. He works with stories in books, plays, films and audio books and has received many prizes for his work. Children and adults love his lion.

This bush telegraph can be incredibly helpful, for example when his Aunt Heidi (who is a bit soft in the head) gets lost in the woods. Or when that old fox starts to act funny. Supposedly the bully is learning to read and write now! Sounds like something strange is going on here … A new story about the clever friends who craftily master their daily lives in the forest.

A story of the unimaginable, of great intensity and closeness, full of consolation and confidence.

When children blow their lids ANGER. It can make children quake. Parents, too. It is red hot, powerful, gripping. It is explosive and implosive. When it dissipates, it leaves both children and parents exhausted and often with unanswered questions: What just happened? Where did that anger come from? Photographer Jan von Holleben pursues exactly this question and captures 12 typical situations that make children angry with his camera, creating a vibrant photo picture book in which children and parents can find themselves, leading to mutual talks and reflection.

It‘s so easy and fun to draw funny faces – with rabbit teeth or freckles, bulging eyes, runny noses, cucumber noses or terribly long tongues. Sometimes there is a smile on their face, sometimes they have nothing to laugh about. Here is enough space for silly and stubborn heads, for zany characters and blushing beasts. With masks, blot pictures and puzzles, pictures to complete and add on to. Inspiring, amazing and hilarious!

»Actually I am really
DIFFERENT, but I RARELY HAVE A CHANCE to be that way.« Ödön von Horvath
How do I turn into the person I am – or would like to be? Can I decide that myself? What makes me me? How does it feel to be “me”? And what does a tidy room have to do with it all? Jörg Bernardy looks into these questions regarding our personalities, our bodies and our “selves”. He describes how we consciously or unconsciously are guided by social perceptions and which effects things such as moral rules have on our bodies. Surprising, eye-opening and insightful – a book on identity, as diverse as we are.
