With a practical and often humorous style of speaking that combines thorough biblical scholarship and "girlfriend" wit, Reverend Doctor Jacqueline Thompson speaks directly to the hearts and minds of people from all walks of life, helping them discover their purpose and destiny in Christ. As a young girl growing up in the Northern California city of Oakland, Dr. Thompson was reared in a single parent home where her mother laid the foundation that would become her own personal relationship with God. Her desire to help people by alleviating the conditions that seemed to keep them disenfranchised led her to pursue politics. With that in mind, she enrolled at the University of California, Berkeley where she majored in Political Economy of Industrial Societies. After graduating with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in 1993, Dr. Thompson began teaching history and politics. While teaching afforded her the opportunity to positively impact the lives of young people, God was calling her to a higher purpose. In March of 1995, Dr. Thompson accepted her call to ministry and was subsequently licensed to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ in July of 1995 and ordained to the ministry in October of 1998 by Reverend Dr. J. Alfred Smith, Sr., Pastor Emeritus of the Allen Temple Baptist Church in Oakland, California. Her journey towards God's purpose for her life led her to the Howard University School of Divinity under the academic leadership of respected theologian Dr. Cain Hope Felder. Her excellence in academic scholarship, preaching and ministry earned her numerous honors and awards including Who's Who Among Students in American Colleges and Universities, The Ford Foundation Fellowship, and the Nannie Helen Burroughs Award. She was awarded a Master of Divinity Degree with honors from Howard University in 1998. In June 2013, she received a Doctor of Ministry in African American Church Leadership from Fuller Theological Seminary in Pasadena, California. During her time at Howard, she served as the Minister of Youth at the Shiloh Baptist Church of Washington, D. C. under the Pastoral leadership of Reverend Dr. Wallace Charles Smith. Under her dynamic leadership, the Youth Ministry at Shiloh flourished and served as a model ministry for churches nationwide. Despite her giftedness as an administrator, her true passion is preaching and teaching God's word. Her unique preaching style and sound biblical foundation has opened doors across denominational lines as well as in mainstream civic and political organizations, including the National Urban League and the National Council of Negro Women. Dr. Thompson travels extensively across the United States and the Caribbean, ministering to youth, women and the general Body of Christ at churches, conferences, retreats and workshops. She has had the privilege of preaching in many arenas previously uncharted by women. In addition to serving as the first women to preach in many prominent pulpits across the country, she was the first ever female revivalist for Allen Temple Baptist Church and the first and only woman to preach Men's Day in the 150 year history of the Shiloh Baptist Church. In keeping with the 'ministry of firsts' God has given her, in March 2010, Dr. Thompson was installed as the Assistant Pastor of the Allen Temple Baptist Church—the first woman to ever serve in this capacity in the 91year history of the pioneering congregation. In December 2019, Dr. Thompson was installed as Senior Pastor.

2021 MID-ATLANTIC EPISCOPAL DISTRICT VIRTUAL LEADERSHIP TRAINING INSTITUTUE Thursday, October 14 – Saturday, October 16, 2021 After graduating high school, Reverend Eldren D. Morrison was appointed to pastor the Warner Temple AME Zion Church in Lancaster, SC. During this time he also went on to major in Religion and Philosophy at Livingstone College in Salisbury, NC. Pastor Morrison has served five congregations in the itinerate ministry of the Methodist Church. He has served as Pastor of the Pleasant Hill AME Zion Church in Heath Springs, SC, Metropolitan AME Zion Church in Chester, South Carolina, and the Liberty Hill AME Zion Church in Lake Wylie, SC where during his pastorate the church grew to be Zion’s largest congregation in the state. In 2007 he was appointed to Varick Memorial Church. In 2009, while pastoring in New Haven, and recognizing the need for more high-quality education options in the community, Pastor Morrison established, and remains a board member of the Booker T. Washington Academy, a pre-k through 8th grade charter school serving the growing number of children of Dixwell, Newhallville and the larger New Haven community. The academy opened its doors in September 2014. Reverend Morrison is currently a pastor at Shaw Temple in Smyrna, Georgia, and chair of Shaw Temple Academy, a daycare and preschool. He continues his work with integrating church education and community development, and is a Cultural Ambassador to New Haven. Reverend Morrison became a Cultural Ambassador because he saw the disconnect between health care services and knowledge about medications and current trials in the larger African American community. During his tenure as a Cultural Ambassador he has learned about the benefits of clinical research and the protections in place for volunteers. Most importantly, he is now aware of the importance of minority participation in clinical trials in order to understand the effectiveness of treatments in these populations. He represents the spirit of YCCI— “the connection between the community and the wealth of knowledge, the programs, and the opportunities at Yale.”

Course Overview: This course is designed to help leaders develop knowledge to evangelize in your community by being F.I.T. That is by being Filled with the Holy Spirit, Impacting your Community and Training Up Disciples. It is a common error in community relations to concentrate on making things look good instead of making them good. In fact, these two complex endeavors are highly connected. Goals and learning objectives for the course: 1. To show why it’s necessary to have the Power of the Holy Spirit. 2. To show what happens when the church doesn’t engage the community. 3. To show the need to Train Up Disciples.

Learning Objectives Participants will leave this course with an actionable understanding business in ministry; and how to implement the core tenets of this framework TODAY. We will cover a bit of theory, but the main outcome is leaders that can have an immediate impact within their sphere of influences. My approach is based upon my 20 years of experience in this space. During the discussion, I will use a few of my client case studies to give a real-world perspective of these concepts. WORKSHOP SYLLABI Workshop Title: “Reaching the Unchurched in A Shifting Church Culture” Date: Friday, October 15, 2021 Time: 11:00 a.m. – 12:15 p.m. Instructor: Rev. Dr. Mark W. Bass Email: Dr.Mb61127@gmail.com

Description: The purpose of this workshop is to focus on “Why” churches need to Reinvent Themselves. • The mission is to help Church-Leaders understand why becoming a Digital-Church is crucial to their church’s future ministry success. It is about helping them to begin to create and execute a Digital-Church Strategy through continual change, new technology, and the process of “Digital-Transformation.” Objective: By the end of this workshop, you will be able to discover the issues, information, strategies, and solutions required to “future-proof” our churches, making them more relevant to more people. This will allow us to help them to attract, engage and retain the “Digital Natives” of the Millennial and Gen-Z generations. There are five requirements if churches are to achieve success: 1) Grow their churches by digitally transforming them to “Become More Relevant to More People.” 2) Embrace a New Mindset of the Need for Continuous Change and SelfDisruption. 3) Transform “Church” into Digital-Church” via “Digital-Transformation.” 4) Adopt a new Church Culture Based on Creativity, Innovation, Urgency, and StartupThinking. 5) Attract and Retain more Un-Churched and Under-Churched Seekers

WORKSHOP SYLLABI Workshop Name: “Becoming F.I.T.” Saturday, October 16, 2021 Instructor: Katherine Burrell, Larry Johnson, and also participants from each of our Conferences Instructor’s email address: katherineburrell@yahoo.com Scripture: Ephesians 6:11-19 NRSV Our Focus is to present a high-impact presentation to show that when the Holy Spirit is put first in our plans there is long-lasting positive impact of our actions on others, unbeknown to us at the time. We will be using examples of sports figures and women from Zion’s history who fought the battle to become ordained elders, setting the path for others. Goals: 1. To show what happens when we are F.I.T. to serve our flock 2. To reach back to a part of Zion’s rich history that is seldom told – the struggle women had in becoming ordained elders and being denied the opportunity to fulfill their call to lead God’s children 3. To provide useful tools to accomplish our goal in serving the Church by making disciples for this present age Supplemental Reading / Bibliography The Holy Bible AARP Magazine (June – July 2021 issue) Article by Kareem Abdul-Jabbar - A Tribute to Black Athletes, The Games We Play Bettye Collier-Thomas, Daughters of Thunder, Black Women Preachers and Their Sermons, 1850-1979 CLC Facilitator’s Guide for Conducting Interactive Lay Academies Quadrennial Theme 2017-2021
