What is your best BeMSA memory? : : Our first NGA of last term! It was the first in person NGA I ever attended and I got to meet so many BeMSA members! Any words for the new term? I really hope we can bring BeMSA together this year and become a more united organisation. Hopefully BeMSA Namur & Mons can join us to start that :)

What is your best BeMSA memory? : As previous Treasurer of Leuven I get a warm feeling when I think back at the weekly LEB meetings. For me this was more than just a meeting to talk about what’s going on in BeMSA Leuven. Every meeting Kato prepared a lovely dish and we talked in general what was on our minds. It didn’t’ feel like meeting, but more like coming home. Any words for the new term? Of course I still have an “ad interim” function, so I will have to wait what will come. But I’m really grateful for the time I have been part of the national board so far Things are just starting off, and I feel like this is just the beginning of something beautiful Many challenges lie ahead, but with the capabilities of this team, I’m sure we can overcome them!

What is your best BeMSA memory? NEO/NORE weekend I had the opportunity to go last year as a LEO/LORE. Any words for the new term? I will do my best to grow BeMSA's potential as much as possible. I think we can reach high level of communication/social media and I will do my best to reach those.

August Meeting
Last month, BeMSA was present at the IFMSA August Meeting. This is a 7 day conference with over 1000 medical students from over the entire world that hopes to inspire the next generation of future physicians to become leaders and advocates through the exchange of ideas, networking and learning from the various programming sessions. There are meetings of each Standing Committee; governance and decision making sessions; training opportunities for self skills development and inspiring activities and projects presentations.
BeMSA participated in 4 different sessions and multiple other activities. We promoted our exchanges program at the exchanges fair and presented the Teddy Bear Hospital Mental Health station during activities. We were also present at the plenaries, where we voted on bylaw changes and elected the new IFMSA Team of Officials. Of course we also had and attended the social program, including the National Food and Drink Party during which we made fresh Belgian waffles!
Overall we had an amazing time and we can't wait to tell you all about it during NGA!
August
Have you ever had a vision? A dream? Or an incredible passion for something that just drives you to do more?
It were these thoughts & reflections that haunted us as the European Region Assistants for SCORA & SCORP since December when we first discussed the idea to revive the European National Officer weekends. Such a weekend puts the spotlight especially on the National Officers and members engaged at (intern)national level: to connect them, build capacities & knowledge both on soft skills as well as a variety of content on regionally important topics and work on our general personal growth as members of an NMO and medical students.
However, connecting a region and its National Officers is one thing. Implementing the ideas of sustainability, intersectionality and common development is a whole other challenge. But this is where the beauty of the NORPA weekend prevails: it creates a platform where two Standing Committees so alike, can shine and inspire each other in their uniqueness!
The event took place in Zagreb, Croatia where we held 3 joint sessions and 5 specific parallel sessions & 1 open space for each Standing Committee. Also, through informal discussion outside the official working hours other specific questions from different countries and communities were addressed. And lastly, of course many teambuilding and other joint activities were held to bring all participants closer.
Overall, the NORPA weekend 2022 was a massive success. It has undoubtedly kicked of an increase in engagement, capacities and knowledge among NORAs, NORPs and general members alike to continue the initiatives in their communities. Hopefully, you also will get inspired to take the step in the future to apply, and engage in these international event!
With love
Your past SCORA Regional Assistant for Europe/SCORA Director, Ben de Metz
Get ready for NGA1!
Taking place during the second weekend of October (7th 9th October 2022), this will be the first full-weekend NGA BeMSA is organising in the post pandemic era.
The agenda of this first NGA of the year will include sessions for all the Standing Committees, as well as training, finance and PR sessions.
In order to ensure a full board in the National Team, the plenary will include candidature presentation and questions, as well as some necessary bylaw change proposals.
The main goal of this NGA is to allow our members to get to know each other and BeMSA better, so there will be an amazing social program and lots of opportunities to get to know each other!
See you there!
