WHAT WE RECOMMEND BOOKS, DVDS, & MAGAZINES
Not Now, Not Ever
Julia Gillard
On 9 October 2012, Prime Minister Julia Gillard delivered her world-famous sexism and misogyny speech in the House of Representatives. In the ten years since, Australia has benefited from franker conversations about what those words mean in politics, the workplace, and society more broadly. Not Now Not Ever is divided into three sections: personal reflections on the speech; misogyny past and present; and the future.
Artificial Condition
Martha
Wells
In this sequel, the android Murderbot seeks answers about a past massacre it can't remember. Teaming up with a transport ship, it infiltrates a mining facility to uncover the truth. The story delves into themes of autonomy, identity, and the complex relationship between humans and artificial beings.
Land of Golden Wattle J. H. Fletcher
After her father dies, Emma Tregellas escapes an arranged marriage with Ephraim Dark’s help. A century later, Bec Hampton fights to keep her family’s estate intact against her son’s schemes.

World Suicide Prevention Day
Suicide Prevention Australia (SPA) is the national peak body for the suicide prevention sector.
This year, SPA are continuing the theme of “We all have a role to play”. This supports the International Association for Suicide Prevention’s (IASP) overarching theme from 2024 to 2026 of “Changing the Narrative on Suicide”. IASP is issuing a call to action to “Start the Conversation”. In this spirit, we stand united in our commitment to reduce suicide, empowering individuals with the confidence to take action. Every single person can play a role in preventing suicide, not only on World Suicide Prevention Day, but every day of the year.
Together, let’s embrace our collective responsibility, champion hope and take meaningful action to save lives.
Teen Recommended Reads This Months TRR Topic: How to save a life

In recognition of World Suicide Prevention Day, we are choosing from books that centre stories of or by people who have been affected by suicide for this month's Teen Recommended Reads. Choose a book from this theme and let us know what you think.
This month we recommend:
