World Refugee Day
World Refugee Day is an annual international day to celebrate and honour people forced to flee their home country to escape conflict or persecution. The event shines a light on the rights, needs and dreams of refugees.
The number of people in urgent need of resettlement growing every day due to unprecedented global crises - in countries like Syria, Afghanistan, Myanmar, Congo, Ukraine and now the Occupied Palestinian Territories.
Australia has a long history of providing refuge to those fleeing persecution because their lives are under threat — the resettlement program began in the 1940s after World War II, but now we ask ourselves: can we help more?
More information can be found at unhcr.org/au/world-refugeeday-australia-new-zealand-andpacific

OURVERDICT: Anabsolutemustread!
The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo
Taylor Jenkins Reid
A captivating tale of Hollywood glamour, love, and scandal, centred on an ageing movie icon revealing her hidden past and deepest secrets to a young journalist.
Our book club read a fascinating story about a fictitious famous Hollywood actress, Evelyn Hugo. The book takes us through her glamorous and complicated life, exploring themes of love, ambition, and identity. We loved the vivid characters and the emotional depth of the story - even admitting to cry once or twice! Evelyn’s resilience, strength, and vulnerability shone through and kept us enthralled... much like the countless men in this story.
Overall, we gave this book an average of four and a half stars.
It's a great read and we recommend this book to anyone!
