2020 FORSYTH CENTRAL BASEBALL

Coach McCollum >> VARSITY HEAD COACH Coach McCollum is in his 12th year as the head coach of the Bulldog Program. The Dawgs have competed in the state playoffs seven years under Coach McCollum. In 2012, the Bulldogs made it to the Elite 8 before dropping two close games to Whitewater. In 2015, Forsyth Central won the region championships along with a state playoff berth making the Sweet 16. Coach McCollum was named the County Coach of the Year by the Forsyth County News. In 2016, Forsyth Central was able to repeat as Region champions and earn a state playoff berth making the Sweet 16 in Back to Back years. Coach McCollum was named Region Coach of the Year for 2016. Prior to Central, McCollum was an assistant at North Forsyth High School. Before moving to Georgia, McCollum was the head varsity baseball coach at Gainesville (FL) for 4 years. He led Gainesville High to its first district title after a 13-year drought. In addition, he coached baseball and football at Santa Fe High School in Alachua, FL. McCollum started coaching at Shippensburg University. He assisted the 1996 team that competed in the Division II World Series in Montgomery, AL. McCollum graduated from Mechanicsburg Sr. High and later went on to play baseball at Shippensburg University. While at Shippensburg, he was a three-year starter earning All-Conference honors. McCollum graduated with a degree in Elementary Education and a Master's in Physical Education. He and his wife, Rachel, both teach and reside in Cumming. They have three children, Cash (13), and Parker (10) and Macy (8). Coach Cannon >> VARSITY ASSISTANT COACH This is Coach Canon's 6th year teaching and coaching at Forsyth Central. He is the varsity outfield coach. He also serves as the Offensive Coordinator for the football team. Coach Canon is a graduate of Georgia Southern University. He was a three-sport athlete and 2009 graduate of Forsyth Central. Coach Canon resides in Cumming with his wife, Holly.

Coach Bull >> VARSITY PITCHING COACH Coach Bull is in his 12th year as a coach at Forsyth Central High School. He graduated from Holly Hill Academy in South Carolina in 1995, where he was an all region selection in three sports: shortstop/ pitcher in baseball, power forward in basketball, and linebacker/ tight end in football. He went on to Newberry College as a pitcher, where he played three years before transferring to Clemson University to complete his degree program. Coach Bull graduated in 2000 with a B.S. in Mathematics and Computer Science from Newberry College and a B.S. in Computer Engineering from Clemson University. He currently works as a software architect in Alpharetta. Coach Bull resides in Cumming with his wife, Carissa, and three sons, Braylan, Kholson, and Jantsan and his Boykin Spaniel, Brecken.

Coach Arundale >> JV HEAD COACH Coach Arundale has been with the baseball program for 8 years with two at the freshman level and 3 as the varsity assistant This is his 3rd year as head JV coach. Besides baseball, Coach Arundale was the HC frosh basketball at FCHS for 7 years. He has been teaching resource math at FCHS for eight years, spending 2 years previously at Central Gwinnett HS. Coach Arundale grew up in Pawtucket, RI and is a graduate of Kennesaw State University. He lives in Cumming with his wife, Marianne and their three boys, Thomas (21), Matthew (17) and Jackson (17).

Coach Dees >> JV ASSISTANT COACH Coach Dees is in his 12th year as a coach at Forsyth Central High School. He is the Assistant JV coach. He played college ball at Mars Hill College in North Carolina. There he earned Bachelor degrees in Marketing and Spanish. He is the owner of A-Team Sports in Cumming, GA.

Coach Parker >> FRESHMAN HEAD COACH Coach Parker is in his 18thÂ year at Forsyth Central High School. Previous to FCHS, he was at Rockdale County High School for two years where he coached baseball and basketball. Coach Parker graduated from the University of Alabama Birmingham with a Secondary Education degree in Mathematics. He also holds a Masters Degree in Technology from Lesley University in Massachusetts. While in college he spent nine years in Marine Corp Reserves. Coach Parker lives in Cumming with his wife of 15 years, Jennifer, and two kids, Maggie, 12, and Will, 9.

Coach Spota >> FRESHMAN ASSISTANT COACH Coach Spota has been coaching at Forsyth Central for 5 years. He works with both the JV and freshman teams. Coach Spota has been coaching travel baseball for the last 7 years working with all ages. Coach Spota grew up in Forsyth County and went to West Forsyth High School. Coach Spota graduated from North Georgia University with a degree in Kinesiology. He is currently teaching PE at Midway Elementary and getting his Masters in Elementary Education.

Coach Transue >> ASSISTANT FRESHMAN COACH Coach Spencer Transue is in his fourth year as Assistant Baseball Coach at Forsyth Central High School. Coach Transue graduated from Forsyth Central High School in 2012, where he was a three year Varsity Football starter, as a quarterback and was a four year Varsity Baseball starter, as a shortstop and pitcher. He went on to play baseball at Oglethorpe University for four years as a shortstop and pitcher, where he graduated in 2017 with a B.S. in Business Administration. He currently works at Georgia Computer Incorporated as an Account Executive in Cumming. Coach Transue is also an assistant football coach for Forsyth Central High School. Coach Transue resides in Cumming.

Coach Verbeke >> ASSISTANT COACH Graduated from FCHS in 2014. All-County, All-Region selection both years on Varsity. Awarded pitcher of the year for the baseball team in 2013 and 2014. Graduated from Furman University with a Communications degree in 2019. Friday Night starter of Furman University baseball team. Won team MVP in 2018, Selected Preseason all conference for 2019 season. Will be a representative of Greece’s National baseball team upon completion of my dual citizenship. Coach Verbeke works as an underwriter for Central Insurance Company in Alpharetta, GA. He is engaged to Marina Morrison, set to get married in April.

Jim Blandford, is in his third year of teaching at Forsyth Central High School. He has been involved with all the local high schools serving on the staffs of Lambert, North, West as a Para Pro and teacher.
