A BASIC GUIDE TO SAAS Software as a Service, or SaaS, is a software model that can be accessed from anywhere and on any device via the internet. Also referred to as Cloud-Based Software, SaaS relies on the cloud rather than a hard-drive or data centre, which makes it more accessible and quicker to use.

A subscription means that businesses can easily manage their expenses, and they are free to cancel the subscription without incurring big losses if it is no longer necessary.

Some of the most well-known SaaS companies include Microsoft, Salesforce, Adobe, SAP and Oracle. Microsoft has been on the market for a long time, yet it still ranks highest in terms of SaaS growth. The annual growth for Microsoft is 34%, with around 16-17% of the worldwide market share in the first quarter of 2019. Salesforce has an annual growth of 21% and held around 11-12% of the global market share in Q1 2019, with Adobe taking just under 10%.
