1. THE GENERAL CONTRACTOR SHALL NOTIFY THE ARCHITECTS OF ALL DISCREPANCIES BETWEEN CONSTRUCTION DOCUMENTS AND EXISTING CONDITIONS.

2. THE GENERAL CONTRACTOR SHALL COMPLY WITH ALL FEDERAL, STATE, AND LOCAL REGULATIONS THAT MAY APPLY TO THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE PROJECT.

3. ALL WORK OF THIS PROJECT SHALL COMPLY WITH ACCEPTED BUILDING PRACTICES AND ALL CODE HAVING JURISDICTION OVER THIS PROJECT.

GOVERNMENT BUILDING CODE

10. VERIFY FIELD CONDITIONS PRIOR TO COMMENCEMENT OF EACH PORTION OF THE WORK. THE CONTRACT DRAWINGS ARE COMPLIMENTARY AND WHAT IS REQUIRED BY ONE SHALL BE BINDING AS IF REQUIRED BY ALL. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL COORDINATE ALL PORTIONS OF THE WORK.

- BUILDING PLANS ON SITE AT REASONABLE TIMES (5111.11) - BUILDING PERMIT ON SITE PROMINENTLY DISPLAYED (5111.14)

THE MASSACHUSETTS BUILDING CODE, 8TH EDITION

- SITE GRADING/DRAINAGE: THE GRADE AWAY FROM FOUNDATION WALLS SHALL FALL A MINIMUM OF 6" WITHIN THE FIRST 10' (USED TO BE 1/2 PER FOOT FOR 6') (5401.3)

11. DIMENSIONS ARE TO CENTER LINES, EXISTING BULDING GRID LINES OR TO FACE OF FINISHED SURFACE UNLESS OTHERWISE NOTED.

- PIPES THROUGH FOOTINGS OR FOUNDATION WALLS: ANY PIPE PASSING THROUGH A FOOTING OR FOUNDATION WALL REQUIRES A SLEEVE (2) SIZES GREATER THAN THE PIPE. (7602.5)

12. ALL GYPSUM WALL BOARD CONSTRUCTION SHALL CONFORM TO RECOMMENDATIONS, PRACTICES, STANDARDS AND INSTRUCTIONS PUBLISHED BY U.S. GYPSUM COMPANY IN THE GYPSUM CONSTRUCTION HANDBOOK.

- FOUNDATION DRAINAGE: CONCRETE OR MASONRY FOUNDATIONS; DRAINS SHALL BE PROVIDED (5401.3)(5405.1)

4. REFER TO LIMITS OF WORK DRAWINGS FOR OVERALL DISCRIPTION OF WORK AREAS.

5. THE GENERAL CONTRACTOR SHALL LEAVE THE PROJECT SITE AND ALL SURROUNDING AREAS IN FINAL CLEAR CONDITION INCLUDING THE REMOVAL OF ALL DEBRIS RESULTING FROM CONSTRUCTION.

6. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL AT ALL TIMES DURING THE PROGRESS OF THE WORK REMOVE ALL CONSTRUCTION DEBRIS AND MAINTAIN A DUST FREE ENVIRONMENT FOR ALL ADJACENT AREAS.

- FOUNDATION GROUNDING: WHERE FOOTING/FOUNDATION SYSTEMS ON ONE-TWO FAMILY BUILDINGS CONTAIN STEEL REINFORCING, CONFORMANCE TO 527 CMR 12.00 (ELECTRICAL CODE) GROUNDING CRITERIA IS REQUIRED. (8502.1)

- EGRESS DOORS: NO KEYED LOCKS PERMITTED ON INTERIOR OF EGRESS DOORS (5311.4.4)

13. ALL FINISHED WORK SHALL BE FREE OF DEFECTS. THE OWNER RESERVES THE RIGHT TO REJECT ANY MATERIALS AND WORKMANSHIP WHICH ARE NOT CONSIDERED TO BE AT THE HIGHEST STANDARDS OF THE VARIOUS TRADES INVOLVED.

- STAIRWAY MAXIMUM RISE 8 1/4" MINIMUM RUN 9" (5311.5.3.1) OPEN RISERS ARE PERMITED PROVIDED THAT OPENING DOES NOT EXCEED 5" (5311.5.3.3) - HEADERS: APPROPRIATE SIZE FOR FRAMING (TABLE 5502.5(1)(2) (5603.6)(1)(2)(3) MOST HEADERS REQUIRE DBLE JACK STUDS.

14. NO CHANGES OR SUBSTITIONS ARE ALLOWED UNLESS APPROVED BY THE OWNER.

- DESIGN & CONSTRUCTION OF WOOD WALLS: SHALL BE DESIGNED & CONSTRUCTED IN ACCORDANCE WITH 780 CMR 56.00 AND 780 CMR FIGURES 5602.3.1(1) & 5602.3.(2).

15. ALL DATA OUTLETS MUST BE ON A DEDICATED, ISOLATED CIRCUIT. 7. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL COORDINATE THE WORK OF ALL TRADES AND VERIFY THAT ALL CUTTING AND PATCHING REQUIRED FOR THE INSTALLATION OF ALL MATERIALS BY ALL TRADES IS PROPERLY EXECUTED.

- PROTECTION AGAINST DAMAGE: PIPES & (WIRES) SHALL BE PROTECTED BY SHIELD PLATES. (7602.2.1)

16. THE MECHANICAL PORTION OF THIS PROJECT ISSUE AS A DESIGN BUILD PACKAGE. THE GENERAL CONTRACT IS TO SUBMITT TO THE ARCHITECT FOR APPROVAL A SET OF STAMPED MECHANICAL DRAWINGS OUTLINING THE PROPOSED SLOPE OF WORK.

- SAFETY GLAZING INGRESS & EGRESS DOORS REQUIRED & WITHIN 24 INCHES OF DOORS. (5308.4.6) OTHER NEW HAZARDOUS LOCATIONS: STAIRWAYS, RAMPS, LANDINGS, ETC. (5308.4) - BATHROOM VENTILATION REQUIRED & VENTED DIRECT TO OUTSIDE (5303.3)

8. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL UTILIZE THE AREAS WITHIN THE SCOPE OF WORK FOR STORAGE OF MATERIALS AND TOOLS.

- ATTIC ACCESS REQUIRED MINIMUM 22" X 30" FOR 30 SQ. FT.+ AND HEIGHT OF 30"+ (5807.1)

9. ALL WRITEN DIMENSIONS SHALL HAVE PRECEDENCE OVER ALL OTHERS. DO NOT SCALE DRAWINGS. IF THERE IS A QUESTION OR CONFLICT IN DIMENSIONS, NOTIFY THE ARCHITECT FOR CLARIFICATION.

- SOLID BLOCKING REQUIRED IN WALL AT FLOOR LINE, POINTS OF CANTILEVER AND OVER BEARING BEAM (5502.7 & 5502.7.1) - VENTILATION AREA: THE MINIMUM OPENABLE AREA TO THE OUTDOORS SHALL BE 4% OF THE FLOOR AREA BEING VENTILATED. (5303.1)
