Herts Transparent Face Mask to receive CE Marking

Design Abled are preparing for the release of their range of transparent face masks, branded as Helloface, which will soon be receiving CE/UKCA marking.

Intended to solve problems around communication for medical professions and industries where facial recognition is crucial, the Helloface team have created leading products that are safe, transparent and comfortable for all.

The first mask set to be released is a clear alternative to type IIR face masks with CE/UKCA marking. Designed and developed in Britain, the mask is made from recyclable materials with a 98% bacterial filtration efficiency filter. Ideal for medical professionals and industries such as retail, hospitality and tourism, this mask enables you to lipread and see the entire face, providing a protective barrier without the barrier. Conforming to the health, safety and environmental protection standards, a second mask set to be available on the market in October is a transparent P3 face mask. With 99.95% filtration, the P3 mask will protect the user such as surgeons, dentists, those working in transportation, hospitality, tourism, and industrial industries from harmful microbes. Acoustic tested for excellent sound quality and speech intelligibility, both masks are comparable to leading masks on the market. Design Abled, which is a member of the Herts Chamber of Commerce Entrepreneur Foundation, started work on their range of Helloface masks in July 2020 led by Managing Director, Dean Ezekiel. He says, “The development of the company is inspired by my wife who is partially deaf and relies onlip reading to assist when she may not be able to quite hear the person”. “Face masks create a barrier to communication that we take for granted. People should feel comfortable going about their daily activities” It comes as no surprise that since the introduction of face masks in society, there has been a drastic increase in loneliness, intimidation and miscommunication. Studies show that face masks cause up to 45% communication loss. This drastically increases to 98% for deaf and hard of hearing people as they tend to rely on cues such as lip reading and facial movements. Face masks impede individuals from recognising important facial expressions and lip movements that are imperative for efficient and effective communication. For many people, the launch of transparent face masks has been revolutionary. The seethrough body of the face mask permits full facial expressions, without the barrier of an opaque face mask covering them. Helloface aims to provide a way for health and safety to remain in public shared spaces and workplaces with a high level of security and comfort, allowing UK and Hertfordshire businesses to thrive once again in a safe and friendly environment. Supported by local organisations including the University of Hertfordshire, Wenta, Innovate Edge UK, the National Physical Laboratory and the Hertfordshire Chamber of Commerce, Design Abled are excited for the release of their new masks and are keen to spread as much awareness about the call for transparent masks as possible.
