Southwark College works with local and national businesses to help inspire the careers of young people and adults looking to get ahead in industry. Offering industry placements and work experience is a great way for employers to engage new people into their businesses.

Could you offer an industry placement or work experience?

Southwark College is working with employers in the area who are interested in hosting T-Level Industry Placements. To really embed the learning, students must complete an Industry Placement, but these are not short-term work experience opportunities. Instead, they are 45 days long and enable young people to work with a business for a sustained period so they can really practice tasks repeatedly, get used to the workplace and see what it takes to succeed in their chosen career.

Employers benefit from:

• Attracting motivated young people to your business, bringing in imaginative and new ideas.

• Improving the recruitment pipeline for your business.

• Addressing local and national skills gaps by helping young people develop the skills your industry needs.

• Developing existing staff’s mentoring and management skills.

• Building a more diverse and creative workforce.

• Playing an important role in the local community.

• Building partnerships with local training and education providers.

• Saving recruitment costs by providing the opportunity to see what the young person can offer, on a no obligation employment basis.
