9000 Wilshire is located on historic Wilshire Boulevard east of the Beverly Hills Triangle. As it is conditioned by a strict zoning envelope (45ft height limit) and 2 FAR, the buildings’ subtle formal adjustments, in combination with a dark purple satin finish aluminum and glass

The logic of the design emerges from many lessons learned on our
15
project for HL23 in New York including the use of clear, low iron glass, and a geometric language that is clean yet provocative in form and shape. The conical corners along with the material finish and color, dramatize the play of light on the surfaces. Meanwhile, the basic rectangular shape of the floor plates allow for the greatest amount of flexibility for the tenant.

CERAMIC FACADE OFFICE: UNSTUDIO-AMSTERDAM ROLE: SCRIPT DEVELOPMENT, MODELS, DIAGRAMS
Designed for a retail / office building by UNStudio, the skin is specially designed for the city of Baku and refers to the local ancient crafts of ceramics and patterning. Consisting of only 6 units, the tiles are gradually opened and closed around the building. From its exterior, the facade promotes an attractive and wonderfully mysterious volume, which, after dusk, shimmers with activity. From its interior, the skin appears as a diffused, soft veil. Ceramics have been extensively researched as an optimal solution for its design character and economic viability within the region. Ceramics have a high tolerance under extreme temperatures but also lateral resistance. If glazed, ceramics are extremely durable and can last for 100 years or more. The facade system has been optimized for both design and fabrication demands. The development of a parametric script via grasshopper provides a working design tool to test radii tolerances, variable tile types, gradient exposure and overall effect in real-time. Through extensive design research, the facade has been optimized to permit optimal sunlight within a gradient system that only requires 6 tile molds for fabrication.

OFFICE: UNSTUDIO-AMSTERDAM ROLE: INTERIOR DEVELOPMENT, RENDERINGS, PATTERNING
Zuidschans (South-Amsterdam) is a UNStudio-designed officed building housing Law Firm NautaDutilh planned for completion in 2015. The development of the main and secondary lobby required a unified interior design that proposed potential furniture and lighting solutions, signage, wall treatments, and minor formal adjustments. Additional development in the buildings panel gradient, color gradient and glazing treatments were also considered.

NUEVO MUSEO DE ARTE CONTEMPORÁNEO OFFICE: PLUS-SUM STUDIO ROLE: RENDERS
The Nuevo Museo de Arte Contemporáneo site, located along the Avenida de Mayo axis that runs East to West through the heart of Buenos Aires, is ideally located to take advantage of local and regional infrastructure, cultural and civic events, and extends the Milla Museos along the Puerto Madero to the East and South. The design of the New Museum of Contemporary Art attempts to develop a response that re-enforces these connections and evolves within its context. It provides a new and adaptable public event space to attract a broad spectrum of visitors, and takes advantage of its location by stitching together the civic space with the new insertion of a museum program. The project aspires to enmesh the new functions within the city fabric while engaging visitors to explore and investigate the many layers of culture within a city appointed by UNESCO as a “City of Design.”

ASTANA EXPO 2017 OFFICE: UNSTUDIO-AMSTERDAM ROLE: DESIGN ASSISTANCE, DIAGRAMS, MODELS
