Fad Diets: Why Are They Bad
Fad Diets: Why Are They Bad? If many people achieve weight loss results when fad dieting, then why are they so bad for you? This is a common misconception amongst dieter’s, who get advice from many sites on the internet claiming significant weight loss in only a few days! This is known as a crash diet and the results are always temporary as it is usually due to significant water loss from the body. As soon as your body rehydrates, the weight you lost will be instantly regained. This is an essential compensation for the body to perform in order to stop you suffering from severe health problems.
In addition, a fad diet which is not quite as outrageous as the above are the over hyped diet plans. These tend Š2011 All Rights Reserved. http://www.ActiveHealthAcademy.com

to be fashionable for a while and usually make a lot of money for the inventor in associated product sales. At best, they are shown to have good nutrition plans which will help you lose weight. Although you could have probably received the same information from your doctor for free! On the other hand some of the plans will be so difficult to follow that you will give up after a week! The shocking truth about fad diets
Diets that promise quick and easy weight loss are usually based on eating more of one food type and none of another. This will prevent you from receiving the benefits that you would normally get from a balanced diet. They may suggest that you take supplements but many are not absorbed by the body, unless they are taken with the foods from a balanced diet. After a few weeks you may begin to develop nutritional deficiencies as a result of the fad diet. If you stick to it for that long!â˜ş

Fad Diets: Why Are They Bad
Fad diets are often boring and over restrictive. When the novelty of the diet wears off after the first day or so, you will not enjoy or be satisfied by your meals. You will then start to crave food constantly and your strict diet regime will collapse. When this happens you may even feel guilty as you think it’s your fault that you did not lose weight.
Most fad diets do not follow the recommendations of Heart Associations and other similar organisations for fat levels in a diet. Often the diet creators will recommend dieter’s to consume high fat and low carbohydrate foods. If this diet is followed in the long term, this may increase the risk of heart disease in the dieter. The promoters may tell you that the diet is only intended to be followed for a short time. But what if you don’t reach your goal weight in that time, then what? You either continue with a plan that is not good for your health, or stop and probably gain back what you lost.

Many fad diets do not allow you to incorporate enough servings of fruits and vegetables in your weight loss program. They also fail to include a variety of foods that are essential for your body to function effectively. Fast track weight loss diets are just a temporary solution and do not help you to make permanent changes to your eating habits. Permanent changes are the only way to remain at your target weight once you reach it. Fad diets encourage yo-yo diet-binge cycles of fast weight loss and equally fast weight gain. This is damaging for your health and your self esteem more so than if you stayed overweight all the time.

Whatever the publicity materials may say, these diets will not help you in the long term. The best way to sustain weight loss is to eat a varied and healthy diet, do not overeat, exercise regularly and avoid fad diets!
