The red areas represent that people or light change a lot so that I recorded it.

1.Observe - Lincoln Center Every one in our group were assigned to observe a site, and I was assigned to this site. This site is composed by several performas center so that I was qurious about how people go through or stay. As I arrived at noom, most people stay under the trees dut to sunlight. Sunlight always change with time. Accordingly, I started to record the light and people at each point by camara and show the result on a diagram.

2. Draw Diagram After I got the data, I choose four kinds of lines to show the relation between people and light.

My parts in the map compare to the place of my site.

3. Create Manhattan Map Our group combines our site observed diagrams together to create the map. Other people inserted their site diagram into South Street Sea Port diagram’s paths, but I combine it in a different way as my diagram can be separated.

4. Create Model The model was transferred from diagram. Woods and wires wree the only thing we can use.

5. Create Skin & Put into model We were needed to create skins for defining where are the interior space, and the skins itselfs were with special shape as well. The material of the skin is Bristol, and this is the only thing we can use to create skin.

6. Draw section cut & Make small models In this assignment, draw one layer section cut first, and draw another three layer section cut. After three layers drawing completed, we create ten models from the three layers drawing according to five adjective words to describe the models. Each word generate two kinds of models, one was made in one minute, while the other was made in thirty minute. We can create models with wood, bristol and wire.

2. Holy

Like a prayer’s hand.

1. Broad From small to large.

3. Anxiety Use slopes to show.

4. Delirious

5. Lithe

4. Exhibition hall Its a space for 50~60 people to hold gallery or religious ceremony as this is a holy space with enough heigh to view Hodson river.

3. Path way and local music space. Its long shape can connect to most space and its slopes is appropriate to local music perform.

5.RESTAURANT A place high enough to have broad view to central park so that people feel relax .

2. Indoor public space All people need to go through here to be calm in this holy space.

6.Bar Lithe space can float and stand in higher place to view Yankeen stadium.

1.Office Delirious thing can draw peoples’ attention so that put it at the entrance to draw visiter. Office need to deal with lots of people so put it at here.

1.Exhibtion space For 5~10 people to use with the view to east river.

Right Photo of the site. Left my scaffolding and ideas.

7.Design an exhibition space in a community park at 123 th st. in Harlem Design Process step one Create a Scaffolding according to our site’s shape to let former small models be free of gravity to put in.

The drawing above repesent which part were changed from Scaffolding to the drawing.

7.Design an exhibition space in a community park at 123 th st. in Harlem Design Process step two Draw a dimentional diagram to rearrange. I changed position of the long anxiety model to be verticle so that it like a tower. Tower is not only give people a sense of direction, but preserve the garden plant.

7.Design an exhibition space in a community park at 123 th st. in Harlem Design Process step tree Make the Model. The most special part in my model is the top thing, I use laster cutting to cerate this.

Lower

The process of using laser cutter to create the model .

8.Design another exhibition space in a community park at 123 th st. in Harlem As the professor told me that my building model is too diagramic, I create another to solve this problem by enlarge the shape of anxiety model to connect to other small model to be more like a building.

1.Site and topic choose There are lots of skyscraper in the world, Taipei like skyscraper as well. The thing that make Taipei different is taipei is surroundedb by mountain. This situation let me feel curious about how wind will go through. One day ,I saw a picture in my heat transfer textbook which talk about how air interact with verticle heated plate. After that, I choose xinyi district as the site.

Top

The experiment model

2.Build experiment model The model use metal to transmit heat and use clay to shape the landscape. Those model buildings’ position and high were exatly accarding to the site. After those things complete, I add plastic transparentplate on its side so that it can be fill with water. The reason why I use water instead of wind is that water is more controlable and there is a fomular named Reynolds number can find correspond type of wind.

The experiment process

3.Experiment & trace the stream line Experiment process 1.Drip red color liquid at the center as the winds induced by the building 2.Drip blue color at lower left connerto represent north east direction of wind which come here every year. 3.Trace the out line on the plastic sheets. Red outline use white plastic, while blue use black. 4. If overlapping occure, bind it together .

4.Build model Use former plastic sheets with fish line by the process below 1.Black sheets upper right raise point bind with white sheets upper right raise point. 2. White sheets lower left concave point bind with White sheets lower right concave point. 3. White raise point near center bind with Whith concave point 4.complete

The final model.

After I travel through west Europe, I feel like the element which make Europe architectures special is the curve so that I captured those curves and shape of structure on one drawing by Illustrator to show this feeling.
