This summer has been another busy and exciting period for Air Energi. We’ve recently had our quarterly Ops Board at our Manchester HQ following our Board meeting in Brisbane in June. We hope to have at least one Ops Board meeting a year away from the UK. I was very pleased this quarter to welcome our recruitment representatives from across the Group to our first Recruitment Management Forum in Manchester. This was the first time we’d brought people together from across the world to discuss improvement ideas and best practice. The event was a great success and we’re currently looking at how we can roll-out this model for other functions. A big well done also goes to everyone who has played a part in our Shell success; we finished above target with 484 consultants working at shell at the end of September. Our financial results for 2012 have now been publically released by our new PR agency Aspectus. We’ve had another set of strong results with turnover up 39 per cent, gross profit up 35 per cent and profit before tax also up. We are on track to grow turnover by 33 per cent to nearly £400 million and deliver £14 million EBITDA this year. This doesn’t mean that this is a time to be complacent however as we still have a lot of hard work ahead of us to deliver this result. Generation and conversion of near term opportunities both on contract and fee income is essential. The Air Energi shareholding population increased with another 27 employees in August now holding shares in the company. That brings our total number of employee shareholders to 48. This number is a reflection of the dedication of our employees to the future success of the business. Speaking of dedicated employees, my

congratulations go to Blair Anderson in our UK office on his appointment as Associate Director. Blair has shown tremendous commitment to the company over the last ten years and is a true reflection of an Air Energi employee. Looking to the future, we have now received Governance Board approval on our investment in the US shale gas opportunity. We have recently opened an office in Midland, Texas, and have a new office and personnel proposed for Denver, Colorado. I have also travelled to APAC to visit our Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand and South Korea offices over the summer. I thoroughly enjoyed my time meeting everyone and hearing about the great plans that you have in store to deliver exciting growth for the next 3 years. I hope that you enjoy our first employee magazine and that we can all appreciate the great people and work that is being done across the Group. Best wishes,

Duncan Gregson

Their remit is to ensure that we remain on target to achieve our strategic goals and to reach our objective of doubling in size by 2015. Each quarter the Ops Board meets over four days to evaluate the progress of their regions or areas and to agree on any new plans and initiatives. The meeting is also an opportunity for people from across the Group to put forward their plans and ideas 02 Energize © Air Energi

Middle East CONSULTANT NUMBERS SOAR In January 2012 the Middle East had 134 consultants working across the region and today that number has soared to over 500. This growth has been a combination of expanding into new regions and a 100 percent increase in the amount of employees working across our Qatar, Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Kuwait, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia and Iraq offices. The Middle East’s biggest client, Shell, has also reached a significant milestone with 240 consultants now working across the region on Shell projects. The outstanding account management has played a big part in the success of the Shell account and we’re sure that these numbers will only continue to grow as we demonstrate our expert service delivery. Now that we have the right teams and offices in place to support our expansion we have increased our projected consultant numbers from 640 by 2015 to 800! This is an exciting new goal and to make sure that we meet these numbers we’ll be working hard to replicate our Shell success with other clients, such as our latest Qatar Petroleum win. We hope to have many more successes to share from the Middle East as we reach our ambitious goal over the next two years.

JOURNEYS TO REMOTE BASE CAMP

Calum Smith journeys to remote base camp with Talisman Energy In July Calum Smith, Regional Manager - PNG, visited Talisman Energy to meet with our assigned consultants and get an in-person perspective of Talisman operations in Papua New Guinea. He spent one night in the Kiunga camp and two nights at their remote Yavo base camp in the Western Province. This was the first time that anyone from Air Energi had visited Kiunga, the provincial capital of PNG’s Western Province, which requires a three hour light aircraft journey from Port Moresby to get there. The river port town has around 25,000 inhabitants and is the transport hub for Talisman Energy and their subcontractors deploying personnel out to the Yavo base camp and into remote drill sites. We have 80+ consultants deployed to Talisman Energy with at least 50 percent of them in the Western Province supporting the Gas Aggregation Project. “The most striking thing about the Yavo base camp was the fact that it was quite advanced, with air conditioning, comfortable beds and a full working kitchen keeping everyone well fed. This was particularly surprising given that you can only get to the base camp by barge, which takes some weeks, or by helicopter from Kiunga” said Calum.

“After meeting with our contractors I was given the opportunity of visiting neighbouring villages with the Community Affairs team, who happen to be Air Energi contractors too. I was also shown around a local produce market which Talisman had set up to give employment opportunities to locals who didn’t have direct employment from Yavo base camp. This allows villagers to sell their own produce to camp workers. “It was interesting to see how the produce market was sectioned off to take into account the different villages. You have to be careful not to ignite old village rivalries through jealousy and competition. Attention to safety during the visit and at the camp was of the highest priority and it was good to know that I was in safe hands throughout my trip.” After an interesting few days it was back to Port Moresby to return to the office, now with a better perspective of our clients and consultants lives in the various sites we support. Ultimately the trip will help Calum and the team in Port Moresby to provide a better service to our consultants and clients alike.

APAC welcomes new Country Managers 2012/13 has seen major investment across the APAC region with new offices opening their doors in Malaysia, Indonesia, Jakarta and South Korea. Renovations in our Singapore and Thailand offices are now also complete so we hope everyone is enjoying their new surroundings. This investment comes as the region decentralises from Singapore, with new Country Managers in place to meet the needs of our clients within APAC. Decentralising our business puts the focus more firmly in-country, closer to clients and closer to consultants. This will allow greater market penetration, improved opportunities for those that work for us and demonstrable trusted expertise to all. Our new Country Managers met together in Singapore for the first time at the APAC strategy conference in August which focussed on reaching our goals in 2016 and how the region can grow and develop.

Air Energi awarded PSL for $1 billion project Well done to our colleagues in Singapore who have been appointed as one of the preferred manpower suppliers to Det Norske on their $1 billion topsides project at Sembawang Shipyard in Singapore. The Ivar Aasen project, which this work is a part of, is destined for the west of the Johan Sverdrup field in the North Sea. We were awarded the listing due to the team’s knowledge and experience in sourcing local, regional and expatriate personnel with relevant NORSOK (standards developed by the Norwegian petroleum industry) experience. We expect that this project will generate a minimum of 20 requirements. 06 Energize Š Air Energi

Raising the stakes in US shale market

wan Darren Ro

By 2040 shale gas will make up 50 percent of the total US gas production and offers major new opportunities to the oil and gas sector. Darren Rowan, Manager – Business Development, is here to tell you how shale gas is revolutionising the US energy market and how we will be investing in this new sector. “The shale oil and gas market is a massive game changer in the US, not only for the oil and gas industry and the US economy but also for Air Energi’s strategic growth in the US. “Five years ago the US was planning to be a net importer of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) with the construction of multiple LNG import terminals but now that picture has changed dramatically. With the unprecedented growth in the shale market sector, the US is now well on its way to becoming a net exporter of LNG and natural gas. Oil from the onshore shale market is expected to contribute nearly 40 per cent of the total domestic US crude oil production. “This has created an excellent opportunity for us to expand our US footprint and establish ourselves as the trusted people services partner of choice to the US shale industry. This expansion has seen us open up a new office in Midland, Texas with further expansion planned in 2014 to support existing and new clients operating in the shale market. Our primary focus will be on the liquids rich plays in West Texas (Eagle Ford and PermianBasin) as well as North Dakota (Bakken Field) as we begin to establish ourselves in the market.”

A bumper summer for USA The USA has had success after success this summer with a number of new contracts signed and the highest ever number of consultants placed in a month. The delivery teams placed a fantastic 35 consultants in June, which is more than ten above their average. Significant placements with ExxonMobil and working more closely with the market has helped to turn potential opportunities into successful placements. A special Air Energi well done also goes to James Noble, Regional Account Manager - ExxonMobil – USA, who has surpassed his annual placement target and still has the last quarter to go! In July, new contracts were signed with Aramco Services Company, Sempra Energy, Braemar Engineering, Bill Barratt Corporation and Kinder Morgan. We’re particularly pleased to have signed a contract with Aramco, the U.S.-based subsidiary of Saudi Aramco. As part of the contract we’ll be helping to find highprofile people such as the CEO and Directors of their new $18 billion project. 08 Energize © Air Energi

How is shale gas and shale oil formed? Shale gas

Shale gas is formed when a natural gas accumulation is locked in tiny bubble-like pockets within layered sedimentary rock, such as shale. Although geologists have known for decades that shale gas existed, it hasn’t been until advancements in technology over the past decade that extracting gas from shale rock has become economically viable.

Shale Oil (tight oil)

Shale oil refers to light crude oil that is found in reservoirs with low permeability. It requires hydraulic fracturing (fracking) to extract because of the extremely tight underground formation of the area. Fracking involves injecting highly pressurised fracking fluids (water, sand and chemicals) into the area to allow the crude oil inside to flow out of the wellhead.

New Zealand offers possible expansion destination Colleagues from our Perth office visited Wellington, New Zealand, for the New Zealand Petroleum Summit in September to assess the potential for a future Air Energi kiwi office. Famed for it’s stunning natural beauty and synonymous with Hobbits, there are record levels of exploration activity currently taking place in New Zealand and significant regulatory changes in development to ensure that the industry can continue to grow, and safely. Didier Delattre, Business Development Manager - Western Australia & Northern Territory, said, “We see great potential in New Zealand’s emerging petroleum sector so this visit will help to establish if the opportunity is big enough for us to consider opening up an office here”. The annual Summit focussed on key regulatory, commercial, environmental, policy and stakeholder issues that currently face the industry and look at how attendees can plan their future development strategies. We hope to update you on our plans for New Zealand soon.

Air Energi to sponsor LNG World Conference As part of our new LNG/ FLNG strategy, we were delighted to be the ‘Business Development sponsor’ for the eighth annual LNG World Conference in Perth. Australia is projected to be the world leading producer of LNG in 2020 and this sponsorship opportunity will help to establish Air Energi as the trusted partner for this industry. Our sponsorship gave us excellent brand visibility and direct access to key speakers and delegates from major players in the LNG industry. The Conference addressed important issues in the LNG industry from insights into world LNG markets to projects, technology and pricing. Ensuring that we gain client visibility by attending high-profile events for those working in this highly lucrative and growing area is key to being seen as experts in the LNG/ FLNG field.

Our People:

Matt Hershey, Combat Medic Our people embody the Air Energi values everyday in work and they also live them in their personal lives too. From marathon runners, to charity volunteers and rock climbers – our people have some interesting ways that they spend their spare time. Name and title: Mathew Hershey, Business Development Executive How long have you been with Air Energi: Since October 2012 Secret hobby: Combat Medic with the Texas Army National Guard Training: When a soldier enlists in the National Guard they go through 11 weeks of Basic Combat Training as well as 4-50 weeks of Advanced Individual Training in their chosen specialty alongside their full-time counterparts. Combat Medic School is currently 19 weeks in duration. Upon completion of their initial training, National Guard soldiers typically serve for one weekend per month as well a two-week training period during the summer unless called up to serve overseas. 12 Energize Š Air Energi

What’s a typical day in training?: 0700 As a senior medic I make rounds to different locations across the field to check on my fellow soldiers. Usually I end up dealing with injuries related to living in field conditions but it’s also good time to coach soldiers on remaining hydrated in the 40+OC Texas heat. 1000 It’s an opportunity to visit soldiers based at our remote Observation Posts to provide medical supplies, rations and any medical support they need as they’re far away from the field. 1200 On a good day I’ll have time to sit and eat otherwise it’s a case of eating on the move to my next location. 1300 If we don’t have any patients at the Battalion Aid Station, then we have classes covering medical topics. It can be a challenge to get through a full class as it’s often interrupted by artillery firing or by patients seeking treatment. 1800 After a quick dinner it’s time to make sure the aid station is prepared, all medical equipment is resupplied and the vehicles are refueled for the next day. 1900 With nighttime comes the opportunity to train in the dark or with night vision devices. We often set up trauma lanes consisting of mock casualties and train on evacuating casualties to simulate battlefield conditions. It’s always a challenge but it’s good to get as much practice as possible before you get to the real thing. 2100 Finally, it’s showers before bed after a long day ready to start again tomorrow.

Innovation: Success for Canadian consultancy program In early 2013, our Canadian office developed a new consultancy program for Calgary based client Harvest Energy. The program involved measuring current compensation practices for consultants in Canada to inform their thinking for a new oil sands facility, due to go live towards the end of this year/ early next. The team generated the survey data by sourcing and interviewing consultants based on client requirements and then creating reports by role and job family. As well as being a big success with the client and delivering a solid profit, the research created a strong pool of potential candidates that can be utilised for this client and others. Based on the success of the program it is now being sold to new clients and prospects, re-selling the existing data and augmenting this with new information as the clients requirements dictate. At the moment we have tentative interest from several target clients. By ensuring that we take opportunities when we see them we can look at new ways to generate income that have a significant impact on the bottom line. Well done to the team for their entrepreneurship.

The sun shines for Manchester’s annual BBQ The Manchester office celebrated their annual summer BBQ in the beautiful regeneration area of Castlefield in July. This was the first time that the event was held at an external venue as there’s now too many of us in the Manchester office to fit into Donna Chapman’s back yard! The BBQ was a huge success with everyone enjoying delicious food and drinks by the canal on what was an uncharacteristically sunny day. The quarterly winners of the UK’s Values awards were also given their moment to shine in a special presentation. During the BBQ a 5* European weekend and a Spa break for two were raffled off in the name of charity, raising a fantastic £795 for Manchester-based charity Cornerstone.

Every year Houston holds a food month where people across the city are encouraged to give food to the Houston food bank to help those in need. Our Houston office took up the initiative with gusto and everyone brought in food each week in exchange for wearing shorts. The premise is simple, if you come to work wearing shorts then you have to bring in one can of food and if not then you have to bring in two. With the thermometers hitting up to 107°F – it was no surprise that there were more than a few knobbly knees on show in the office and lots of food given to charity. www.airenergi.com

Air Energi smashes into the top 100 In early October The Sunday Times announced that Air Energi had soared to number 85 in their Top Track 250 rankings. The Top Track 250 is compiled by Fast Track and published in The Sunday Times, which is read by 2.5 million people. The league table recognises Britain’s largest mid-market private companies that have growing sales ranging between £150m and £600m. Last year we ranked at number 191 and to climb 106 places in only one year is a fantastic achievement. Earlier this year we announced turnover of £290m up 39 per cent and gross profit of £34m up 35 per cent, as well as international expansion into Russia, Ukraine, South Korea, India and Bahrain. Ian Langley, Chairman, said: “This climb is testament to the strong leadership of the Group and the exceptional performance that we have delivered throughout 2012. We are very excited about the future of the business as we aim to build on this success and deliver revenues of over £400 million for 2013.”
