Self Portrait
This book is part of the “A-Z of Graphic Design” project. Inspired by the letter X for ‘XEROGRAPHY’ I set about exploring the potential for the photocopier to be used as an image making tool, not just as a reproduction device. This book shows only some of the results of what else can be done beyond its primary mundane role of just copying. Using FDA student volunteers I have comprised a collection of portraits treating the photocopier as a low-tech camera. Each ‘photograph’ came out fascinatingly, the copier gives an element of spontaneuity to each result and because of the very nature of the process it had a huge effect on the subjects expression and appearance.
