This weeks episode of South Park went after the addictive and exploitative nature of freemium games, which tend to be incredibly popular with the kind of people who refuse to turn off their phones volume in public places. At one point in the episode, a parallel was drawn between the tactics used to make money on mobile games and the hypocritical nature of the alcohol industry, which seems simultaneously to tell people to drink responsibly and to drink as much light beer as possible if they dont want people to hate them. To illustrate this point, the show put together its own spot for alcohol in general, employing a strategy also used for the Weight Gain 4000 ad back in the first season and literally yelling at the viewer. You can argue that South Park isnt the most consistent satirical program thats ever been on television, but youd be incredibly wrong.
