Glossy leaves and pale-coloured flowers lighten and brighten a shady corner. Although the plants we’ve chosen here are all green, their leaves are very different shapes and textures which brings the combination to life. Start with a ‘hero’ plant towards the centre of the pot – we’ve used Fatsia japonica ‘Spider’s Web’ – then tuck other plants around it until you achieve the effect you want Here, we’ve combined an evergreen fern called Asplenium scolopendrium,the trailing perennial Vinca minor, a lime green-leaved Heuchera and the white-flowered Hydrangea ‘Runaway Bride’.
