The most exciting gardens contain a combination of plants to provide continuous interest all year round – including evergreen shrubs for height, drama and impact. Not only do these attractive shrubs keep their leaves all year, they also create the perfect backdrop to other flowering plants. They make fabulous screening plants, beautiful focal points and many can be grown in containers. Most evergreen shrubs require little maintenance, apart from an occasional trim to maintain size and shape. They will, however, appreciate a yearly feed and a mulch around the base of the plant to suppress weeds. Here, we’ve chosen some all-time favourites with eyecatching leaves, interesting shapes or attractive flowers.
