Alstroemeria, also known as the Peruvian lily, is currently enjoying a well-deser ved spell centre-stage as gardeners and cut-flower growers discover how easy it is to grow and how brilliant it looks in a summer border or a seasonal vase of cut flowers. Native to South America, the latest varieties of alstroemeria –such as the tall Summer Paradise series and the dwarf Inticancha series – are bolder than ever before, with gleaming gold and fiery orange combinations to catch the eye. They’re simple to grow, too: plant in a pot or border, in a warm sheltered spot, and they’ll flower ever y year.
