Please be aware that staff are not on site outside routine hours and will require advance notice. Such requests should be made through the hospital switchboard and cannot always be accommodated. Tel: 0161 276 1234 and ask to speak to the on call Adult Mortuary staff member.

Donation of Tissue

Tissue donation is the gift of tissue (such as corneas, skin, bone, tendons, cartilage and heart valves) to help others. Most people who have died in hospital can donate tissue. Unlike organs it may be possible to donate tissue up to 48 hours after a person has died. The National Tissue Referral Centre on pager 0800 432 0559 will advise on referrals and provide advice regarding tissue donation. Age restrictions may apply, the specialist nurse taking consent will discuss this with you. Only those tissues for which you have given permission will be donated.
