Day Services

Our Wellbeing Centre, which opened its doors in June 2014, acts as the hub for a variety of support group meetings (both for carers or loved ones and for those who have been bereaved) and for complementary therapies. Many of these complementary therapies can also be accessed in our Day Hospice, in the In-Patient Unit (IPU) or in your own home.

Support groups

We have several groups on offer, and each one aims to offer the type of support that you or your loved ones need most. Our Chat & Cherish Café sessions offer support (and sometimes complementary therapies) for carers. Our Buddy Group and our Bereavement Coffee Morning sessions offer support for the bereaved.

In collaboration with Weston Oncology, we offer a service called Time for You, which offers a chance for you to enjoy relaxation, support and companionship through complementary therapies. This service is open to those using hospice services and to cancer patients. To find out more, please speak with a member of our team or your hospital oncologist.

Complementary therapies

Complementary therapies work alongside conventional medical treatments. They do not aim to offer a cure, but they can be very helpful in supporting symptom control and enhancing your sense of wellbeing.

Available therapies include adapted massage, aromatherapy, reflexology, a variety of relaxation techniques, a range of beauty treatments and Indian head massage, Hypnotherapy and Reiki.

Our team will work with you to help you find the right therapy that will help you relax and feel restored.

For more information about our support groups or the complementary therapies on offer through Weston Hospicecare, please ask your Hospice Community Nurse Specialist, Day Hospice team or In-Patient Unit team. The Family Support Team can also refer patients, close loved ones and carers.
