BERESFORDS IN THE COMMUNITY

Introduction Beresfords began as an Estate Agent in Essex in 1968, and fifty years on it has branches handling sales and lettings spanning the length of the County. It also has a separate mortgage company, Flagstone, and specialist divisions dealing with country and village properties, land and new homes, surveys and property management. With the company now employing over 200 local people in 16 locations across Essex, community is at the heart of everything we do. We are committed to supporting as many local organisations and national charities as we can. Over the years our staff have run, cycled, swum, crawled and rolled their sleeves up in the name of a good cause. Some great examples of this include one of our branch managers who cycled across East Anglia over the course of three days to raise much needed funds for EACH (East Anglia’s Childrens Hospice). We have also entered teams for the Brentwood Nuclear Races, in order to raise money for The British Heart Foundation. We commit to considerable sponsorship of various other local events across Essex, including the STEP2IT 5K Run in aid of First Step, a fantastic charity supporting special needs children which is itself celebrating its 30th anniversary.

Not only is Beresfords a proud sponsor of the Maldon Mud Race, a world renowned event, but every year we manage to assemble a team of brave participants to partake in this challenging event, raising funds for charities like Fairleigh Hospice. At Christmas, we get heavily involved in local community initiatives, whether that be helping The Salvation Army serve food to the homeless or organising the Beresfords Dash for Cash (dressed in Santa suits) in aid of the Lord’s Taverners, a charity aimed at providing disadvantaged and disabled young people a sporting chance. We never lose sight of the fact that it’s our people that make us special. We recognise their efforts and achievements by holding an annual summer party and awards evening to thank all of our staff and recognise those that have excelled.

Charity Gala Ball We are incredibly proud of our annual charity gala ball; since its inception in 2016, it has raised over £80,000 for Essex and Herts Air Ambulance. Tickets to the event now sell out year on year, and the event was moved to the larger premises of Braxted Park in 2017 after the success of the inaugural event. We have secured repeat sponsorship from premium brands such as Bentley, The Blue Group, Nicholas Anthony and our media partner Essex Life. Without this kind of support the event would not be possible.

NICKI TREFFERS, BERESFORDS SLEEPLESS NIGHT APPEAL Our latest initiative comes in the form of an open air sleep out to raise awareness and funds for the homeless charity CHESS, with a target goal set at £1000. We are fortunate to have a great team of staff that are ready and willing to offer their support to such worthwhile causes. OLIVER GREEN, MALDON MUD RACE

The mud race was like nothing I had experienced before! I expected it to be relatively easy but it was in fact exhausting. Raising money for the Farleigh Hospice motivated me to push on and finish in a respectable 18th place.

STUART WALKER, NUCLEAR RACES The 7k mud race with over 50 obstacles was probably the hardest thing I have ever done! I was aching for days after. Great team work between the Brentwood sales and lettings teams. We raised over £500 for the British Heart Foundation.
