The “70° CAVALIERE” Set of Two Desk Created from American walnut by Linley, the desk is a resplendent piece featuring a prominent gallery which takes the form of an architectural box inspired by Villa Beretta. The desk also has the dual purpose of being a showcase for the specially commissioned Beretta Set of Two SO10 EELL shotguns, viewed through glass set onto the writing surface. The desk is supported by four walnut turned column legs, and is embellished with a surrounding frieze inlaid with herringbone Bombay rosewood and Indian ebony cock beading. A secret drawer is concealed within the side elevation, housing equipment for cleaning the guns. The architectural interpretation of the Villa Beretta forms the main gallery of the desk, with six pigeon hole ‘colonnades’ flanking each side of the central elevation. Within this, a further secret drawer is concealed as well as lift out trays which also house gun cleaning accessories. The villa features windows recessed onto the façade in Bombay rosewood, Indian ebony, Macassar ebony and harewood. Linley is one of the most exclusive ateliers of high english craftsmanship. Name comes from Mr David Linley, member of the English Royal family, who established the design Company some 23 years ago and is currently soul and President of the enterprise, specialized in tailoring bespoke pieces to order on an individual basis.
The “70° CAVALIERE” Set of Two Accessories Cleaning accessories and tools, made by Maurizio Cairola, have been handcrafted and patiently finished using highly selected materials, as Madagascar ebony, black buffalo (bubalus bubalus) horn, nickel silver and pewter (two of the original metals used in the traditional production of last century) and stainless steel for screwdriver blades. Metal parts are finally hand engraved by recognized engravers in Gardone Val Trompia. Mr. Maurizio Cairola, passionately fond of hunting and fine guns, has started some years ago an exclusive and very limited production of gun care accessories specifically designed for the maintenance of premium grade guns. SO10 over-and-unders represent the highest expression of quality in hand crafted shotguns. Quality which is highlighted in the maximum care of details and the exclusive design. The 70° CAVALIERE Set of Two consists of a pair of Beretta SO10 EELL shotguns, 20ga. with 28” barrels, boasting a unique gold decoration of all metal parts. Walnut briar of stocks and fore-ends is carefully singled out for grain quality, color, strength and resemblance. The hand executed checkering and Tru-oil® finishing further highlight their beautiful natural wood color.
Today considered as the king of artist/engravers, Ken Hunt is also one of the most creative and appreciated engraver of the world, having developed new techniques to improve the art of carving and inlaying gold.
The unique gold decorations of the 70° CAVALIERE Set of Two
The represented themes are the most beloved subjects by Cavaliere Ugo Gussalli Beretta: Gun 1: • Bottom side: Villa Beretta and extended gold floral motifs • Side Panels: typical italian game scene with woodcocks and pheasants and Mr Ugo Gussalli Beretta favourite dogs Lola, an Irish setter, and Olga, a British setter. • Other parts: extended gold floral motifs Gun 2: • Bottom side: New York Gallery building, the first opened flagship store, and extended gold floral motifs • Side Panels: typical american game scene with mallard ducks and bob white quails. • Other parts: extended gold floral motifs
A unique art of carving, inlaying and damascening coloured gold (yellow, white, red, brown and green), has been used by Ken Hunt to decorate the receivers and the other metal parts of the Beretta Set of Two.
All metal parts of the guns (action body, fore-end iron, top lever, auget, trigger guard, etc.) have been specially colour case hardened following a traditional surface treatment process, specially done by experts artisans.
